Type of Position:
Full-time, 35 hours per week


Hours of Work:
Monday to Friday 9:00am to 4:30pm. Flexible working arrangements can be negotiated as long as operational requirement are met.


Wage Range:
$27 to $29 per hour gross.


Benefits:
Extended health benefits package, sick leave and personal leave.


Vacation: 15 working days increasing after 2 years of continuous employment, plus an additional 3 days paid time off during winter break office closure (between Christmas and New Year).


Start Date:
March 13, 2023 or as soon as possible.

CCSS provides engaging, low-cost and no cost family, youth, and seniors programs and support services for North Shore residents. Our programming enhances social connectedness, wellbeing, resiliency, and promotes a sense of community belonging.

CCSS is based out of the Lions Gate Community Recreation Centre where we partner with North Vancouver Recreation and Culture, and North Vancouver District Public Library, to meet the needs of the community.


Overview of the Seniors Program


The Seniors' program, known as the _Seniors' Hub_, offers free and by-donation programs for seniors aged 55+, to maintain their social networks, make new friends and remain connected to their community.

Programs are designed to be flexible and adapt to changing requirements of age and health.

Our goal is to alleviate the social isolation, stress, and anxiety experienced by seniors as well improve their overall health and wellbeing.

In addition to our onsite programs, we also offer outreach programs using our minibus to support seniors with their weekly shopping and visiting local attractions.


Overview of the Seniors Program Coordinator Role
We are looking for an outgoing individual who is passionate about improving the lives of seniors in our community.

The seniors program coordinator has overall responsibility for the day-to-day operations of all seniors programs and services, ensuring the delivery of relevant, high-quality and successful programs that meet the needs of the community.

The seniors program coordinator leads a team of staff and volunteers to collaboratively plan, coordinate and deliver onsite and outreach programs and services.

The _My Lions Gate Break_ coordinator and all seniors program assistants report to the seniors program coordinator. The seniors program coordinator will work collaboratively with the CCSS management team and reports directly to the executive director.


Responsibilities of the Seniors Program Coordinator

  • Oversees and monitors seniors' program and activities, assuring they align to community needs and seniors' interests.
  • Develops and plans onsite and outreach programs and support services for seniors in consultation with other program staff.
  • Provides supervision to all seniors' program staff and volunteers including developing staff schedules, managing work assignments, planned and unplanned absences.
  • Supports the delivery of programs and services by directly supervising and/or facilitating seniors program events as per operational needs.
  • Works with seniors in an outreach capacity to build relationships; assesses needs of individual seniors and links the senior with appropriate Seniors Hub programs and/or other community resources.
  • Provides caregiver support to families in distress.
  • Organizes bus drivers for all programs; collaborates with administrative manager to ensure the buses are operated safely and are in good working order.
  • Collaborates with other community services partners to coordinate the provision of seniors' services, exchange program information and resolve problems. Ensures CCSS is represented at seniors' community forums and events.
  • Ensures the executive director is updated on key issues that directly related to seniors' programs and services.
  • Implements processes to evaluate seniors' programs and services and prepares reports as required for the CCSS board of directors and funders.
  • In collaboration with the executive director and manager of administrative services, manages program financial resources, ensuring seniors' program operates within the assigned budget and expenditures are in line with all organizational policies and/or funder requirements, as applicable.
  • Ensures appropriate resources are available to support and maintain programs, identifying any barriers to successful program execution and escalating as appropriate.
