Southlake Regional Health Centre**, formally known as York Regional Hospital, is a full-service hospital with a clinically advanced focus.
Southlake is responsible for developing and providing advanced levels of care to the more than 1 million people who reside in York Region, Simcoe County, and as far north as Muskoka.
Through various expansions in its history Southlake has grown into a university-affiliated teaching and research facility, specifically offering advanced cardiac, cancer and thoracic care.
Description:
Security Supervisor
The Security Supervisor is responsible for supervising the activities and job performance of Security Guards assigned to all areas belonging to their facility.
Security Group as well as the facility they are assigned to.
Essential Job Functions:
- Provides leadership, direction, and ongoing coaching and training
- Ensures all standing orders and scheduled daily activities are carried out as required for each shift
- Ensures site staff adhere to all Paladin Security and sitespecific security policies and procedures
- Plans and implements shift work schedules
- Ensures all Security Guards have received the mandatory training
- Motivates staff and issues commendations
- Disciplines staff when necessary and ensures proper documentation is passed onto head office
- Attendance Management
- Performs security audits
- Documents and investigates security incidents and complaints
- Provide proactive and reactive security patrols.
- Communicates any concerns/issues with Client Service Manager
Requirements:
- At least two years of security experience in a team lead role would be an asset
- Post-Secondary education in a law enforcement/security program from a recognized college
- Working knowledge of the Trespass to Property Act and Mental Health Act
- Superior written and verbal communication skills
- Demonstrated punctuality and reliability, tact, and diplomacy
and annual performance reviews.
The successful applicant will also ensure daily coverage, patient watch, special assignments, duties, and
crisis/emergency coverage are assigned according to the contract and/or as needed, will be accountable
for coordinating services within the Hospitals contracted budget. Will conduct safety security inspections
and provides statistical analysis, manage key control & auditing, track and follows up on incident reports,
perform security audits and threat assessments. They will also monitor and maintain security equipment,
will control and monitor card access requests, ensure all departmental invoices are checked for accuracy
and signed off. Other duties as assigned or required.
Prerequisites:
At the time of the interview, applicants must be able to produce proof of completion of
the following:
- Flexible work schedule required
- Minimum 2 years of Healthcare supervisory experience.
- Post-Secondary Education in Police Foundation
- Demonstrated ability to perform under pressure.
- Proven ability to train, direct and motivate staff.
- Proven labor relations training and/or experience (i.e., discipline).
- Excellent analytical skills.
- Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal) to deal internally with Senior Hospital
- Must be selfstarting and results oriented
- Strategic thinking with problem solving
- Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to build teamwork and strong business
- Identify gaps and deficiencies and develop solutions
- Ability to prioritize, balance conflicting tasks and manage internal and external stakeholders
- Ability to work independently with limited direction

Qualifications:
- Minimum of one year of experience in a concierge security role is required
- A Valid Ontario Security Guard License
- Proficient in English (both oral and written)
- Vulnerable Sector Check
