Your Team


As a Public Awareness Specialist on our Field Services team, you'll be a vital component in establishing Emergency Response Plans (ERPs) for our clients.

These diverse specialists ensure public safety by explaining potential hazards and accurately documenting surface development information for emergency response purposes.


What You'll Do & How You'll Make an Impact

  • Assist with the planning, development, and implementation of new and existing public consultation programs; verify regulatory requirements, client requirements, and expectations
  • Travel to project areas, both remote and populated, by company vehicle to complete consultation and ground truthing by using GPS to accurately articulate roads and surface developments (residences, businesses, public facilities, trapper cabins, public recreation areas, etc.)
  • Consult on relevant emergency response information / procedures with surface developments
  • Enter updated surface development data into H2Safety's Stakeholder Information Management System (SIMS)
  • Inform ERP Services team of surface development questions and/or concerns
  • Collaborate with the following teams throughout the public consultation program:
  • ERP Services team to obtain and organize necessary map and surface development information
  • Geographic Information System (GIS) team to ensure roads and surface development locations are reflected accurately on project maps
  • External Training team to assist with emergency response exercises
  • Administration team to coordinate travel arrangements
  • Assemble field materials including letters, pamphlets, and maps
  • Conduct research to confirm and verify surface development information via multiple methods (411, Google, country maps, etc.)
  • Maintain company vehicle cleanliness while in the field

What We're Looking For

  • Maintain flexibility to travel long distances by vehicle to project areas, both remote and populated, for extended periods of time, including some weekend work, when required (75% of the work for this position will be completed in the field)
  • Ability to work up to 12hour days when in the field
  • Clean driving record; current drivers abstract required
  • Ability to navigate using a paper or electronic map
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Office (Word, Access, Outlook, Excel)
  • Ability to walk short distances, potentially on rough terrain
  • High level of independence, initiative, and selfmotivation
  • High attention to detail; data entry accuracy
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Personable and skilled at establishing rapport and building relationships
  • Strong communication and conflict management skills; able to adapt to various communication styles

  • University degree or college diploma in emergency management relating to stakeholder engagement
