Job Summary
- The mission of the Department of Medical Neuroscience is to foster research and training in neuroscience that advances the understanding and treatment of diseases of the nervous system. Reporting to the Department Administrator, the Clerk provides clerical and administrative support for the Department of Medical Neuroscience.
Key Responsibilities
- Organize department seminar series, including booking accommodations for visiting speakers, ordering catering for seminars, assisting in the preparation of travel claims, setting up online seminar program, and ensuring distribution to all guests and invitees.
- Assist with the graduate student program in records management and organization of thesis defense examinations.
- Perform various clerical duties including updating of department website, records management of staff, faculty and student files.
- Complete financial forms (cheque requisitions, travel claims, payroll timesheets), as required.
- Complete pickup, delivery and processing of department mail, and courier packages. Reconcile charges.
Note
The successful applicant will be eligible for hybrid work (combination of in-person work on campus and remote work) as agreed by all parties based on operational requirements and university guidelines.
Dalhousie's vaccine mandate has been suspended at this time, and employees no longer need to provide proof of full vaccination.
However, health and safety risks to our community will continue to be monitored and a vaccine mandate may be reinstated if necessary.
Required Qualifications
- Business/Office Administration diploma plus two years' previous experience working in an office environment (or equivalent combination of training and experience).
- Excellent communication and organization skills.
- Proven attention to detail and the ability to work independently.
- Proficiency in MS Office
