Opportunity Summary


Reporting to the Director of Special Projects, this is a hybrid role both in both job duties and remote/office work.

This role is perfect for someone with an Estimating background who currently has relevant project management skills and/or is willing to learn project management.

While this role with focus on specials projects, other duties may be assigned within the Main Operations scope of work.


Roles and Responsibilities

  • Establish and maintain positive relationships with clients, consultants, subcontractors, public and internal teams
  • Contribute to management of all aspects of the project including profitability, schedule adherence and customer expectations
  • Perform quantity takeoffs, issue tender packages, and create scopes of work
  • Review quotes and make recommendations for award, participate in tender closings
  • Interpret documentation, and design drawings to define scope/contents of estimates
  • Work with Superintendents and project teams to develop and monitor the project schedule
  • Negotiate, issue, and monitor progress of subcontracts and major purchase orders
  • Develop risk management strategies for schedules and budgets
  • Performing site visits and attend site meetings, coordinating and/or documenting and distributing associated meeting minutes as required
  • Contribute to development of recovery strategies when project is in jeopardy
  • Understand prime contract and subcontract responsibilities
  • Coordinate all facets of project closeout, including archiving of documents, maintenance and warranty manuals, deficiencies, and warranty work

Qualifications

  • 4 years of experience performing estimating work on construction projects ranging from $100,000 to $5+ million in spend
  • Postsecondary diploma or degree in building technology, construction management or quantity surveying CEC, PQS or similar designations an asset
  • Experience estimating commercial, multifamily residential and institutional buildings.
  • Experience working for/with General Contractors
  • Familiarity with drawing reviews, contract administration, document management, scheduling software, change order procedures
  • Knowledge of key principles involved in bid preparation, including quantity take off procedures, subtrade procurement, pricing and bid closing procedures
  • Excellent organizational, time management, and communication skills
  • Strong computer skills using Microsoft Office, Microsoft Project with Procore considered and asset
  • Proven integrity when dealing with clients, trades, and consultants.
