HOURS:
Monday to Friday, 37.5 hours/week. Hours to be determined based on program need.

The Community Triage Space provides a welcoming and safe space for all people to access a variety of light-touch services at the community centre


These light-touch services include:
intake and referral services, reception, phone and administration supports, coffee and to-go food services and managing variety of guests who provides services out of our building (e.g. nursing students, legal students).

The Community Triage Space is a starting point for community members for immediate needs, and referrals and encouragement to other programs, both internal to Boyle Street and externally, to help foster positive change in their lives.


The Manager is responsible for the Community Triage Space, ensuring the space is maintained as a welcoming and safe space for community members and staff and ensuring timely access to services for community members.

They are responsible for coordinating student and guest services to also operate out of the Hub space based on regular intervals.


The Manager is responsible for directly supervising: the Intake and Referral team, Reception Team, Food Services staff, 1 Substance Use Worker, and the Security Team.

The manager is responsible to make sure all program mandates are met.

KEY AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITIES:


Program Administration:

Overall responsibility for the management of Community Triage Space.

  • Manage the daily flow of community members into Triage Space
  • Works in collaboration with the Triage team and other Managers to make sure that clients are being properly referred to internal and external services and resources
  • Directly overseeing the reception, intake, and other support services in Triage space
  • Oversee and/or prepare all required internal and funding related reports
  • Work with the Senior Manager and Finance to set and manage budgets on an annual basis
  • Explore opportunities to offer new services out of the Triage space

Management:


Manage and support staff in their role(s) by ensuring providing various opportunities for group and individual debriefs (circle facilitation, 1:1's), and supporting staff development to ensure appropriate services to community members.


  • Provide direct management and monthly supervision and support to staff of your team
  • Coordinates daytoday schedule and coverage, as well as time off requests.
  • Ensures team members are aware and follow organizational policies and protocols
  • Provides sufficient debriefing following critical incidents to staff and reports matters to the appropriate authorities
  • Has a strong understanding of burnout, compassion fatigue and engages in direct wellness conversations with staff
  • Act as liaison with security contractors, provide regular feedback about quality of services and adjust scheduling to community center needs

Budget, Reporting and Funding:


  • Completes all necessary reporting for funders in partnership with Program Administrator and Senior Manager
  • Ensures the proper and accurate collection of data for funding reports
  • Works with the Senior Manager, and Finance Department to set and manage budgets on an annual basis

Organizational Leadership:


  • Attend regular management meetings
  • Support management team with implementation of the strategic plan
  • Provide support to overall organization development (e.g. policy development, training development, etc.) as needed
  • Incorporate BSCS' Mission and Values into all aspects of their work and the programs they are responsible for

Community Engagement:


  • Attending and representing Boyle Street at all appropriate internal and external meetings as required

Others:


  • Support Boyle Street coverage duties, including by not limited to: building closure, special events, etc.

Education:


Skills, Abilities and Attitudes:


  • A strong commitment to upholding the guiding philosophies, values, and beliefs of BSCS
  • Knowledge of complex trauma and working from a trauma informed perspective as well as a harm reduction perspective
  • Understanding, experience and knowledge of Indigenous worldviews, values and ceremony
  • Ability to work in a highly stressful and everchanging environment
  • Ability to handle crisis in a calm and collaborative manner
  • Must have excellent boundaries
  • Demonstrated and effective leadership skills including performance monitoring, employee development and crisis management
  • Ability to build an environment that supports a relationshipbased, clientcentered practice that supports community members from survival to wellness.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office and confidence util
