The Toronto Blue Jays are looking for a MLB Executive Chef

The Executive Chef will lead the culinary efforts in our Major League clubhouse.

This role is responsible for improving the health and performance of our team through the creation of high-quality meals and snacks tailored to the needs of players and coaches, as well as cultivating a positive dining experience.

The Executive Chef will be responsible for leading the clubhouse culinary staff, collaborating with the MLB Performance Nutritionist on menu and food preparation and working to improve the dining experience in our organization.

RESPONSIBILITIES

Develop recipes, source, build and implement menus for all player, coach and staff meals, with a focus on optimizing player health and performance. Lead service of meals for up to 85 people daily
Collaborate with ML Performance Nutritionist regarding individualized needs, allergies, body composition and specialized diets for the purpose of menu development and meal plan execution
Be an advocate of key nutrition messages, serving as an extension of ML Performance Nutritionist to help support nutrition goals
Lead process for hiring and management of kitchen staff
Work with other kitchen and support staff to establish new ways of improving the experience around food for players and coaches, both in the home clubhouse and on the road
Accountable for managing the culinary budget, including food costing, inventory tracking and invoice processing
Manage communication with local caters and vendors used to supplement meals
Implement procedures for serving and storing food to meet food safety standards
Develop guidelines for discarding or returning products that do not meet the organizational standards
Provide perspective and input in the design and build of a new clubhouse kitchen

QUALIFICATIONS

Culinary degree and/or several years of experience as a professional chef.
Excellent leadership, management, communication, organizational and interpersonal skills. Demonstrated success with building and leading teams in a kitchen.
Ability work with kitchen and nutrition staff to find creative solutions for player and coach feedback on meals and food.
Demonstrated experience developing and maintaining relationships with all types of clients.
A passion for food and culinary excellence with an emphasis in healthy cooking and meal planning.
Understanding of and experience with preparing meals from a variety of cultures and countries outside of North America. Strong creativity and desire to continue learning about meals and food from Latin America and Asia.
Spanish language fluency a plus. A working knowledge of baseball preferred.
