Description

The Well is a Charity in Blind River Ontario, offering a Youth Center, Food Stability for the area, Community Events, and Programming for Children.

We also have a Coffee Shop that functions as a fundraiser.

We believe in building our community and offering new opportunities to children who have fewer opportunities, including a Summer Day Camp with Snacks, Games, Crafts, and Fun Bible Teaching.

Our goal with our workers and volunteers is to create a community around purposeful giving. We have a fun working environment that welcomes our employees and volunteers to challenge themselves and learn new skills

Please note that this position is pending funding, and we expect to know if we are funded in April-May. This job is sponsored by the Government of Canada through the Canada Summer Jobs program. Applicants must be between 15-30 years old and legally able to work in Canada. Pay is $17 an hour. Hours will vary and include weekends.


Job Overview


As a Child and Youth Worker, your primary focus will be connecting with and mentoring teens through drop-in sessions, special events, and discipleship programs like Youth Alpha.

You'll also help plan and promote various events and fundraisers during the day when the students aren't there. Additionally, you'll be trained to work at The Well's coffee shop, where you'll serve guests and make specialty drinks.

Alongside your primary responsibilities, you'll be involved in other programs for all ages. For example, you'll help prepare and oversee a Summer Day Camp, counsel youth, and run various activities. You'll work with a mentor/supervisor with over a decade of experience, supervising and being supervised by different people. You'll also have opportunities to lead, speak publicly, organize events, help with marketing campaigns, and maintain the space's cleanliness.


Responsibilities:


  • Connect with and mentor teens through various programs, including afterschool dropins, special events, and discipleship programs.
  • Plan and promote different events and fundraisers during offhours.
  • Work at The Well's coffee shop, serving guests and making specialty drinks.
  • Help prepare and oversee programs for all ages, including a Summer Day Camp.
  • Counsel youth and run craft stations during Summer Day Camp.
  • Work with a mentor/supervisor and supervise summer day camp counselors.
  • Lead and speak publicly, mentor youth, plan and organize recreational events, and execute marketing campaigns.
  • Work as a barista and help maintain the cleanliness of the space.
  • Perform administrative tasks on the computer.

Skills:


  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills
  • Knowledge and Experience working with Children and Youth.
  • Ability to connect with and mentor teens.
  • Organizational and planning skills.
  • Marketing and event planning experience is an asset.
  • Customer service experience is an asset.
  • Knowledge of coffee making and customer service.
  • Proficiency in computer programs such as Google Docs & Google Sheets.
  • Ability to work in a team and supervise others
