Job Summary:

Your role:


  • Coordinate the implementation and maintenance of the corporate Backflow Prevention Program.
  • Coordinate the implementation and maintenance of the corporate On-Site Sewage System Program.
  • Recommend changes and/or enhancements to the City's Backflow Prevention Bylaw, Backflow Prevention Program, processes & procedures.
  • Recommend changes and/or enhancements to the On-Site Sewage System Program, processes & procedures.
  • Complete technical review and enter all backflow test reports and surveys in the AMANDA software program.
  • Complete technical review and enter all onsite sewage system surveys in the AMANDA software program.
  • Maintain filing system for all properties in conjunction with the Backflow Prevention program.
  • Maintain status of properties in the Amanda software program with respect to the Backflow Prevention program and onsite sewage system program.
  • Prepare letters and correspondence for annual testing of backflow prevention devices, cross connection surveys, onsite sewage system surveys and notices to property owners.
  • Research ownership of all applicable properties in the City of Guelph to ensure accurate data is available for the Backflow Prevention program and On-Site Sewage System program.
  • Liaise with contractors, property owners and tenants regarding their responsibilities with respect to the Backflow Prevention program and On-Site Sewage System program.
  • Arrange inspections and meetings for the Mechanical Inspection Team, when needed.
  • Maintain active membership in The Ontario Backflow Administrators Committee.
  • Schedule inspections for inspection services, when needed (backup role only).
  • Complete permit and inspection filing for inspection services, as needed.
  • Assist with other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:


  • Possess an Ontario Water Works Association Backflow Certification or be willing to obtain within a reasonable period (approx. 12 months).
  • Excellent customer service skills with sound judgment and decisionmaking skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of staff, stakeholders, and the general public.
  • Intermediate skills with Microsoft Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook).
  • Knowledge of the Occupational Health and Safety Act.
  • Ability to problem solve, analyze, and interpret technical and numerical information and research alternatives.
  • Good organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks in a demanding environment.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to work in a team environment.
  • General knowledge of plumbing and/or backflow prevention would be an asset
  • Experience in the Amanda software programs would be an asset.

Rate:

$27.07-$33.24/hour
