Job Summary:


The Sub Foreperson, Plant Maintenance position will assist in the planning and scheduling of the work, including various maintenance programs and capital projects as required.


Duties & Responsibilities:


  • Carry out all duties related to your trade certificate of qualification.
  • Support trade staff and contractors with asset care, reliability, and general processes implemented.
  • Ensuring compliance obligations and standards are always achieved, related to, but not limited to, Maintenance and repair work within Industrial establishments for Municipal water and wastewater treatment process.
  • Keep up to date on O&M recommended maintenance, diagnostic practices, and plant technical drawings to ensure asset uptime and change management meet business requirements.
  • Respond to emergency events, and failures and make repairs, escalate and or work with contractors to complete work.
  • Support a positive work environment and promote mutual respect, engagement, and a culture of continuous improvement.
  • Champion Maintenance Management and Reliability Engineering good practice and coach trade staff.
  • Asset Care program: Facilitate weekly Asset care meetings to develop future work schedules and ensure work plans are high quality so that work can be completed "right first time".

Maintainability Program:

Provide support towards eliminating risk, performance losses, and unplanned cost, and be responsible for work that directly improves equipment mean time between failures (MTBF) and mean time to repairs (MTRR).


  • Utilize SAP to record all work performed, source equipment parts, and equipment history, and modify and update work status as required.
  • Utilize purchase request inventory management system.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Skills & Qualifications:


Essential

  • A valid provincial certificate of qualification in one or more of the following disciplines; Industrial Electrician, Industrial Millwright, or Instrumentation Technician.
  • Three to five (35) years of practical experience in water/wastewater treatment.
  • Experience in completing Preventive and Predictive maintenance activities and optimizing maintenance plans.
  • Must be able to interpret equipment manufacturer's schematic drawings and operating and maintenance (O&M) manuals to effectively check equipment installation and repairs and interpret design drawings to validate and provide comments on proposed work.
  • Strong working knowledge of SAP.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills are required along with problemsolving, priority setting, and customer service skills to work effectively in an empowered team environment.
  • Must possess a good understanding of safety practices as mandated under the Occupational Health & Safety Act, as well as knowledge of Ministry of Environment and Climate Change regulations.
  • Facilitation skills related to basic, formal problem solving such as "cause and effect and 5 why analysis".

  • Respond to emergencies on a 24hour basis and/or work a flexible schedule, which may include evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime.
  • Participate in the standby rotation and respond to callouts as required.
