PRODUCTION OPERATOR (STEEL STUDS)

IBP (Imperial Building Products) is a coast-to-coast national steel stud manufacturer serviced by two divisions with branch offices across Canada. IBP is a registered member fabricator of the Canadian Sheet Steel Building Institute (CSSBI). Our products are manufactured in Canada, with distribution nationwide. We provide fully engineered & tested systems, design assistance and cost-saving options, with over 1000 installed projects completed in a variety of building types.

IBP is currently recruiting for 1 Order Picker/Forklift Operator for our steel stud plant, based in Etobicoke, Ontario.

This is a permanent and full-time position, offering a challenging opportunity for a motivated individual to demonstrate their skills and abilities in a manufacturing operation within a large corporation.

Under the guidance of the Supply Chain Supervisor, the Order Picker/ Forklift Operator conducts the daily operations of the Supply Chain Department.

Additional responsibilities of the Order Picker/Forklift Operator include:

  • Inspect all equipment prior to using/operating
  • Strapping of material on production carts (use of banding machine)
  • Assisting of supplying coils to production
  • Putting material in storage racks
  • Receiving and marking coils
  • Mapping and planning loads
  • Organizing trucking shipments
  • Counting, paperwork, quality control
  • Loading and unloading material onto trucks
  • Stacking coils
  • Housekeeping – Ensure that the yard is kept neat and clean
  • Emptying knock out and garbage bins

Qualifications:

  • Heavy lifting up to 50lbs
  • Understanding of safety policies and their effects to personnel.
  • How to use chop saw and steel binding machines.
  • Good communication skills with production personnel, order desk, customers, couriers and truck drivers
  • Picking orders and strapping for properly safe loading, ensure strapping is tight so lifts don't shift or fold.
  • WHMIS Training
  • Crane Certification
  • Knowledge and skill to operate a forklift (certification required)
  • Perform basic mathematical calculations.
  • Ability to work afternoon shifts, including Saturday as needed.
  • Ability to work flexible hours and shifts and adapt to changing business conditions.

There is 1 current opening:

  • Afternoon shift - Monday-Friday 2pm-11pm

Hourly wage: $20/hr CAD
