The Universal Group has an exciting opportunity for a General Manager of Production and Distribution to join our Operations team for our Eastern Region (Quebec and Ontario).

Who You Are


As the General Manager, you will manage a team of employees, drive business performance, enhance productivity, drive growth of the company, participate in annual budgeting exercises, and be committed to continuous improvement and to develop strategies to enhance efficiency, quality and customer satisfaction.


What you will do:


_ Leadership and Strategy_

  • Develops and provides expert guidance on manufacturing operational programs in alignment with corporate strategic plans, vision, and mission.
  • Identifies, recommends, and implements new processes, technologies, and systems to improve and streamline organizational processes and optimal use of resources and materials.
  • Ensures that decisions and project plans, such as those for staffing, development, organization, facilities management, procurement of raw materials and hardware as required are in line with the organization's business plan and vision.
  • Participate in strategic growth projects including acquisitions and their subsequent integration.

_ Occupational Health & Safety_

  • Leads and ensures all OH&S safety policies and protocols are adhered to by all personnel.

_ Manufacturing, Production and Equipment Distribution_

  • Leads and directs the production and procurement of traffic signs and equipment including customer service, sales, and rentals.
  • Maintains knowledge of emerging technologies and trends in operations management.
  • Implements and manages quality assurance and safety within the facility.
  • Responsible for supplier and customer relationships for the quality of products delivered including being ontime and on budget.

_ Finance & Human Resources_

  • Annual forecasting, which includes preparing an annual budget, scheduling expenditures and analyzing variances, following up with initiating corrective actions.
  • Provides manufacturing and production leadership to the team including planning, supervising, scheduling, and ensuring manufacturing principles are applied to maximize output.
  • Works alongside HR Business Partners to support recruitment and retention, performance management, merit increase cycles, continued training and development, progressive discipline, and any other related human resources programs and/ matters.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 710 years' experience in a similar manufacturing, production, and warehousing role with a track record of progressing scope of responsibility.
  • Lean Six Sigma Black or Green Belt certification is highly desirable.
  • Minimum 3 years' experience at a director level, leading teams, with full P&L responsibilities.
  • Must have proven leadership and people management skills and the ability to motivate others.
  • Bilingual in English and French is preferred
