General Manager - Scale AQ North America
ScaleAQ is an international company within aquaculture. We provide innovation, technology, and equipment to customers globally.
We are looking for a General Manager to manage multi-site locations in the Atlantic provinces and BC, joining the ScaleAQ North American team, based in Saint John, NB.
Duties and responsibilities:
Team Management
- Manage 10 + people in multiple provinces
- Have the ability to communicate and manage teams remotely, over different time zones
- Responsible for all areas of daily operations on both coasts, including effectively prioritizing the schedule and supporting customers with initial troubleshooting, when needed
- Have overall responsibility for the oncall rotation on both coasts
- Ensure technical requirements for all team members are tracked and maintained
- Manage Human Resource activities, including staffing, performance management, training, health and safety and employee relations
- Ensure company policies are upheld and revised, or created, when necessary
- Ensure provincial health and safety standards are continuously met, or exceeded
- Perform related duties as required
Sales
- Maintain customer focus in all daily operations and communications on both coasts
- Seek new opportunities and customers for all products
- Maintain awareness of market conditions
- Remain up to date with local, provincial and federal policies affecting the industry
- Attend BC political industry meetings and events and provide updates to Head Office
- Actively monitor and evaluate competitor activities
- Attend trade shows and conferences and organize stand logistics
Work with Finance Director to:
- Complete all financial forecasting, budgeting and monthly reviews for the whole business unit
- Prepare sales quotes and proposals
- Prepare customer invoices
- Approve all purchases
- Review and approve timesheets for payroll
- Regularly meet and report to Head Office on status of the business, including current market trends, customer activity and finance
Qualifications, training and experience:
- Undergraduate degree, MBA desirable
- Minimum of 5 years of relevant experience
- Background in aquaculture and understanding of the aquaculture industry
- Demonstrated ability to lead
- Strong interpersonal and communication skills
- Ability to assess situations and make informed decisions
- Strong problem solving and analytical skills
- Ability to prioritize and meet deadlines in fast paced environment
