***: Reporting to the Director of Operations, the Education Services Manager LPN is responsible for the development and delivery of a comprehensive education program for employees. The Educator will ensure that all mandatory education elements identified by the organization are included in the annual education plan. Incorporate best practices and evidence-based standards into education, facilitate orientation and learning program, monitor and provide feedback on employees' performance, and evaluate effectiveness of clients' care delivered and address issues identified.


KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (INCLUDE BUT NOT LIMITED TO:

  • Responsible for fostering and establishing a collaborative and open environment with all stakeholders working with TPFA.
  • Incorporate best practices and evidencebased standards into education, facilitate orientations and learning programs, monitor/provide feedback on employees' performance (in conjunction with Departmental Head), and evaluate effectiveness of holistic client care delivered.
  • Provide assistance to the Director of Operations with roll out and implementation of programs and initiatives.
  • Address any issues identified and ensure compliance with required legislation, standards, regulations, and Federal and Provincial Acts.
  • Participate in audits, inspections, investigations, and surveys including, but not limited to the Continuing Care Health Service, Accreditation Canada, and Accommodation Standards.
  • Collaborate with the Director in responding to Q & A and action planning; and implementing any followup that is required for any care related allegations.
  • Identify the educational and training needs in the facility to ensure quality of care and services.
  • Design, develop, and coordinate the delivery of Monthly Education Calendar to meet all educational needs.
  • Ensure good client outcome and satisfaction through training needs of employees.
  • Develop general orientation and ongoing educational programs based on learning needs of employees.
  • Communicate the planned program to encourage participation, involvement, and support.
  • Provide programs to enhance the working life and increase knowledge and esteem of employees.
  • Evaluate the effectiveness and quality of Monthly Education Calendar against appropriate objectives and standards in collaboration with Building Managers and Tenant Resource Coordinators.
  • Receive feedback from employees and department heads on training programs.
  • Monitor modern technology, trends in the delivery of each service and ensures employees are trained appropriately.
  • Maintain employees' attendance inservice records and quality management activities for the program.
  • Make available adequate resource material on healthrelated books, for nutrition, activities, and environmental departments.
  • Responsible for teaching health and safety issues such as WHMIS, lifts and transfers and proper body mechanics.
  • Responsible for carrying out legislated duties for health and safety as per the certification training program.
  • Responsible for point in time education and evaluation materials.
  • Coordinate and serve on the various committees responsible for client care.
  • Complete Annual & Mandatory education/inservices as well as all required education/inservices as per organizational requirements.
  • Other duties as assigned.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:


  • Proven experience within the past 5 years working as an Educator in a Supportive Living or Seniors environment.
  • Completion of an accredited Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN) education program.
  • Active or eligible for registration and practice permit with the College of Licensed Practical Nurses of Alberta (CLPNA).
  • Experience with both _Point Click Care (PCC) and Point of Care (POC)_
  • Experience with _The Learning Centre_ (ASHCA Education Portal)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support-Healthcare Provider (BCLS-HCP) through Heart & Stroke Foundation.
  • Good understanding of current best practices in a senior's environment.
  • Experience in program development, instructional design and evaluation.
  • Demonstrated leadership and change management skills.

WORKING CONDITIONS:


This industry requires empathy for and an understanding of the needs of seniors and requires a complete and current (within six months) Vulnerable Sector Check including a Criminal Background Check.

This position is a fast-paced, challenging working environment. The ability to be flexible to meet the demands of this work environment is required for success. This position works closely with seniors daily which requires a high threshold for patience and compassion. This work can be stressful and you may encounter challenging behaviours including physical or verbal aggression.
