The Purchasing Specialist role reports to the Manager, Purchasing & Supplier Management and is part of the centralized purchasing team.
This individual contributor will work in collaboration with all Freedom Business units, along with Sourcing and Finance to support all PR to PO requirements with accountability for purchasing process and policy adherence at Freedom including ownership of related controls.
The position supports purchasing and supplier relationships including expediting product, ensuring accurate PO information, interfacing with internal stakeholders and the associated resolution as required.
A typical day- Acts as a SME for all PO management matters.
- PO management for devices, peripherals, capital equipment, services & software
- Verifies PRs against supplier quotes & agreements for accuracy. Rejects all PRs that are nonconforming.
- Supports Business Units such as Commercial and Network teams, finance & procurement with PO amendment requests.
- Review and validate all PR details prior to creating PO as required by business unit.
- Participates in adhoc projects geared towards PO management tools & process enhancements.
- Assists Network & Finance teams with PO & customer Invoice reconciliation activities.
- Provide support and educate requestors as required to perform PR to PO functions.
- Analyze PO and vendor spend report findings and data and make recommendations when required.
- Review and support all required month end purchasing reports.
- Ensure compliance with purchasing policies and procedures, ethical practices and adherence to relevant laws and regulations.
- Liaise with internal category teams, business partners and gain a comprehensive understanding of business requirements.
- Support Strategic Sourcing team with PO information as requested.
- Confirm quotations and PR rates are aligned, Totals, Quantities, Pricing, Currency, Vendor details.
- 2 to 5 years of previous experience in a Purchasing department, strategic procurement, contracting, with a college/postsecondary diploma is required; Sourcing, Engineering, Economics, Finance or Business is preferred.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Office suite.
- Strong and proven business/financial acumen.
- Understanding/knowledge of Lean, Six Sigma and Project Management methodologies is an asset.
- A strategic, efficient, big picture thinker with a keen attention towards detail, innovative, curious, creative, data oriented and collaborative individual to join our team.

- This is a temporary 12month position.
- The Purchasing Specialist role will be based in Toronto.
- This position is a hybrid work from home and office model.
- No travel required.
- This position requires the successful completion of a criminal and credit background check
