The hours for this position are 6:00 AM to 2:30 PM; 7:30 AM to 4:00 PM; 8:00 AM to 4:30 PM; 2:30 PM to 11:30 PM; 4:30 PM to 1:00 AM; Weekends

Maintenance Technician, you will perform a variety of general maintenance responsibilities which include electrical, mechanical, carpentry, and construction in the maintenance of college facilities and equipment.


Some of your job responsibilities may include:

  • Inspect buildings, electrical systems, grounds, and equipment to ensure safe, well-maintained conditions, and identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair.
  • Perform minor troubleshooting and repairs; replace light bulbs, ballasts and fuses. Help with preventive maintenance and troubleshooting on the HVAC system, changing filters, and bearings.
  • Knowledge of Work on AC/DC machines.
  • Complete maintenance work orders as assigned and promptly.
  • Identify and perform basic service and repair on plumbing fixtures; open clogged lines and drains.
  • Identify and assist with pumpand repair work.
  • Operate a variety of machinery, equipment, and tools including saws, routers, drills, sanders, planers, drill presses, and different hand tools.
  • Maintain inventory of tools, supplies, and equipment; recommend tools, supplies, and equipment for purchase.
  • Perform a variety of locksmith responsibilities; install, repair, and replace locks on doors
  • Inspect, service, and maintain operational functionality of doors and windows.
  • Basic ability to interpret and work from blueprints, drawings, or oral instruction on a variety of structures related to the construction project.
  • Install or replace plugs, switches, and outlets.
  • Help with snow removal
  • Perform periodic maintenance of lawn equipment and vehicles.
  • Help move loading, unloading, and storing supplies, furniture, and equipment.
  • Wear proper protective equipment while performing job responsibilities (i.e., goggles, helmet, back brace, knee pads).
  • Effective communication skills with students, employees, faculty, and the general public.
  • Ensure that all activities are conducted within the established College policies, FERPA guidelines, and other applicable laws about employment and education.
  • Perform assigned tasks according to established practices, procedures, techniques, and standards in a safe manner independently.
  • Report to Maintenance Manager

Qualifications:


  • Complete high school/GED and
    three years related maintenance work experience. Must have knowledge of TDG, FAA, DOT and IATA
  • A comparable amount of training, education or experience may be substituted for the minimum qualifications.
  • Respond to 24hour emergency calls
  • Adjust hours including weekend hours and maybe required occasional overtime.
  • Knowledge of proper safety techniques and procedures while using chemicals, power tools, hand tools, and equipment; knowledge of proper lifting techniques
  • Operate heavy equipment
  • Understanding of building codes and "International Building Code" (IBC)
