Your Key Responsibilities
Technical Leadership


Internally:

  • Contribute to an innovative and collaborative work environment where creativity is valued and encouraged.
  • Provide guidance and input related to proposals, project control platform /software recommendations, report structures reflective of project needs, PC field staff engagement, client relations, preconstruction estimating and scheduling.
  • Establish Project Controls framework, for our Mining Clients for the delivery of projects in the execution phase.
  • Contribute to the development of Project Execution Plans.
  • Support Construction Services Manager by providing in depth analysis and status of all projects within the execution portfolio on all key performance indicators (e.g., schedule, costs, risks).
  • Work with the leadership team in establishing the overall EPCM capability across the Mining business line specific to project controls, procedures and systems required for the efficient execution of EPCM/alternative delivery projects.
  • Participate in and contribute to the management of change control processes.
  • Collate all field generated reports into a comprehensive report and or presentation (weekly or monthly) of overall performance of projects being serviced.
  • Support and advise on Earned Value Management policies, procedures and the standards required to deliver projects efficiently and safely.
  • Train and supervise new project controls field team members.

Externally:

  • Interact with multiple Project and Client management teams and participating in project meetings.
  • Develop WBS, mapped cost code systems.
  • Gather, review, and validate project(s) progress and cost information.
  • Review all project generated field reports, workbooks, and dashboards prior to distribution to the Client, ensuring the accuracy of all reported progress percentages are based on the rules of credit established within the given project.
  • Review and ensuring the field project controls team(s) efficient and timely production of daily, weekly, and monthly reports are in line with the established project and company reporting calendars.
  • Provide guidance and input to field project controls teams when creating control budgets.
  • Review and authenticate cost reports and change notices/requests.
  • Develop progress measurement process for all scopes of work.
  • Managing overall project controls governance to ensure robust cost and schedule performance for all projects in execution phase.
  • Contribute to the development of overall requirements for specific resourceloaded schedules.
  • Oversee baseline processes for costs, schedules and progress and ensure all established project systems are being implemented and maintained.
  • Support establishing and managing of project(s) schedule development, review and updating processes to ensure ongoing accuracy throughout the lifecycle of the project(s).
  • Contribute and guide project controls field teams to establish risk management protocols which includes identification, documentation, mitigation and tracking of potential risks on project(s). In addition, supporting the project field teams in determining potential cost and schedule/progress impacts of identified potential risks.

Project issuance of NTPs, vendor purchase orders, cost proposals and invoices.

  • Ensure the implementation of approved cost control processes to report on estimates, expenditures, and cost commitments accurately.
  • Support, as required, in providing analysis on claims and change order.

Qualifications

Your Capabilities and Credentials

  • Proven experience in mining and/or construction sectors in the development and management of Project Controls systems for large EPCM focused projects.
  • Advanced skills and knowledge of multiple Project Control software platforms.
  • Effective team player with leadership and training abilities, strong communication skills, and paying attention to detail.
  • Ability to work and make decisions independently and interdependently.
  • Demonstrated successful experience to initiate and maintain relationships with local staff and key staff from other locations within Stantec, and with existing and prospective clients.
  • Demonstrated successful experience in client service management, including the ability to interface with clients and to build and maintain lasting, positive relationships.
