Job Summary


This position manages and is responsible for the strategic, operational, and administrative organization of the Vice Dean, Education, UBC Faculty of Medicine (FoM).

This position is responsible for the coordination and completion of a variety of initiatives and projects related to the efficient administration, organization, and operations of the Vice Dean, Education for UBC Faculty of Medicine.

Manages the Vice Dean, Education's requests for information, meetings, and works with the Vice Dean, Education on a daily basis with complex issues.

This position also manages the Vice Dean, Education's commitments which includes developing reports, presentations, briefing materials, speaking notes/communications material, and makes the appropriate linkages with the other members of the Faculty of Medicine, including FoM Dean's Executive Team, UBC, and external stakeholders.


The incumbent provides work direction and works closely with the Administrative Coordinator, Office of the Vice Dean, Education to ensure overall alignment of the Vice Dean, Education, Senior Director, Education Programs and Services, and Administrative Director, Office of the Vice Dean, Education's priorities.


The position will be based at the UBC Vancouver Campus with occasional travel to other sites (e.g., Gordon and Leslie Diamond Health Care Centre) to support activities within the Office of the VDE.

The Office of the Vice Dean, Education (VDE) is responsible for multiple annual education budgets and for providing critical support and guidance to all educational programs offered within the Faculty of Medicine at all sites across

British Columbia:

MD Undergraduate Program (MDUP) (in partnership with the Universities of Victoria, Northern British Columbia, and UBC Okanagan), Postgraduate Medical Education (PGME), Health Profession (HP) programs, Continuing Professional Development, Faculty Development, Vancouver Summer Program, and all other educational support units that support the teaching and education delivery of the Faculty of Medicine undergraduate, graduate and postgraduate programs.


The Executive Coordinator to the Vice Dean, Education FoM reports to the Manager, Office of VDE and will receive day-to-day work direction and supervision from the Assistant Manager, Office of VDE.

This position will also receive work direction from the Vice Dean, Education, Senior Director, Education Programs and Services, and the Administrative Director.

Interacts frequently with members of the Education portfolio, the Office of the Dean, UBC Faculty of Medicine, and the Faculty of Medicine at large, UBC Central, and external agencies.

Work Performed

Manages the efficient administration, organization and operations of the Vice Dean, Education for UBC Faculty of Medicine.


Manages various ongoing or one-time initiatives and projects for the Vice Dean, Education, which includes identification, implementation, review and management of all aspects of the initiatives, including analyzing and evaluating outcomes and providing advice on improvements.


Representing the Vice Dean, Education, this position will liaise with faculty, staff, and learners within and across the Faculty of Medicine (education programs, departments, FoM Dean's Executive Team), UBC Central Units (UBC Provost Office, UBC Senate), external stakeholders (Ministry of Health, Ministry of Post-Secondary Education and Future Skills, Association of Faculties of Medicine of Canada), and the public.
