Better Beginnings Early Learning and Child Care is seeking to fill the position of Daycare Cook. We are a new facility-based childcare center located in Lacombe AB, offering inclusive, holistic care to children ages 12 months to 6 years old. What will you be doing?


As a Daycare Cook, you will prepare morning snack, lunch, and afternoon snack based on the Canada Food Guide each day for up to 55 children, ensuring to follow safe food handling practices and paying close attention to food allergies and intolerances.

Responsibilities include:


  • Preparing two snacks and one meal daily for up to 55 children.
  • Ensuring that children's allergies and intolerances are being respected.
  • Maintaining the cleanliness of the kitchen work space.
  • Adhering to Health and Safety Requirements.
  • Preparing a weekly grocery list, ordering the groceries online, and picking up the grocery order.
  • Attending staff meetings and professional development opportunities as necessary.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements:


  • Food Safe Handling Certificate or willing to obtain.
  • Knowledge of Health and Safety requirements, and adherence to them in daily practice.
  • Clean Criminal Record Check including Vulnerable Sector.
  • Current Standard First Aid and CPR-C.
  • Child Care Certification Level 1, 2, or considered an asset, or willing to obtain.
  • Must be available Monday to Friday.
  • One Saturday every month or two may be required.
Wage to be decided based on education and experience. In addition to the base wage, the Government Wage Enhancement is available and is based on certification level.

$15.00-$18.00 per hour
