We are now recruiting a Welder/Ironworker, who will support the team based at our office in Wabush (Labrador).

Tasks and Responsibilities:

• Set up components for welding/fabrication according to standards and specifications;
• Perform field layout measurements for fabrication and provide field sketches to the planning department;
• Weld different metals and alloys in various positions;
• Use advanced measuring skills;
• Lift and manipulate large metal objects safely;
• Weld and fabricate a variety of equipment and industrial components;
• Determine appropriate welding equipment or methods based on individual job requirements;
• Read and interpret production drawings, blueprints, work orders, and other instructions;
• Operate grinders, gouging, and cutting equipment;
• Create jigs and fixtures to ensure quality and repeatability;
• Maintain and use equipment safely without compromising safety;
• Test and inspect welds to identify flaws;
• Participate in and comply with all health and safety programs and training;
• Work safely, lead by example, and contribute to the safety program;
• Communicate professionally with colleagues and management;
• Support painting of fabricated components;
• Perform other tasks as assigned.

Qualifications:

• At least 5 years of experience in an industrial setting;
• Welding or fabrication certification is required; indentured apprentices will be considered;
• Familiarity with common welding tools and procedures, including MIG, stick, flux-cored welding, plasma cutting, and metal finishing;
• Experience with millwright work and equipment guarding is a plus;
• Experience with SMAW and FCAW welding processes;
• Experience with field layout and fabrication planning;
• Ability to read technical documents and drawings;
• Mechanical aptitude or certification in other trades is an asset;
• Self-motivated, organized, and able to work independently;
• Teamwork skills and resourcefulness;
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written;
• Desire to succeed and grow within the organization;
• Previous supervisory experience is an asset.
