Project/Program Overview:
We are currently looking for a Product Suppport Manager to join our Manufacturing team in Ottawa.

Reporting to the Senior Director of Manufacturing Operations and Quality, you will lead the growth of Product Support as a business entity within Canada and worldwide.

You will manage a team of Product Support Officers and Repair & Overhaul (R&O) Coordinators and work closely with the Director of In-Service Support (ISS) to pursue new business.


Job Description:


Typical Duties Include:

  • Ensure the timely execution of Product Support contractual and bid commitments
  • Identify gaps within the current operation and execute the change process to drive improvements
  • Provide leadership, guidance, mentorship, and development to the Product Support team
  • Balance achievement of the operating plan relating to revenue and cash while maintaining customer satisfaction
  • Ensure compliance with: contractual obligations for price, delivery, quality, and performance, applicable procedures, regulations, and legal requirements
  • Protect GDMS-C's interests through appropriate contract terms, conditions and Non-Disclosure Agreements
  • Support the preparation, implementation, and achievement of accurate repairs forecasts for customers
  • Recommend desired warranty provisions and sparing strategies on new pursuits based on historical trends
  • Develop and manage the R&O capability during the acquisition and ISS phase of programs
  • Oversee the R&O of supplier equipment and subsystems
  • Execute the setup of and management of Repair Agreements with OEMs
  • Report items of interest, risk, business, and market strategy to management and provide recommendations for appropriate action
  • Oversee the collection of time and material costs to enable invoicing or warranty repair accounting requirements
  • Meet or exceed operating goals for quotations, invoicing, accounts receivable, and turnaroundtimes through negotiation results, contracts management, and customer relationships
  • Prepare failure and repair data to enable performance and trend monitoring and projection of support requirements
  • Ensure adequate spares and component parts are available to support all contractual requirements
  • In coordination with Component Engineering and Programs, ensure the proactive identification, notification, and resolution of obsolescence issues for customers
  • Represent GDMS-C, internally, with customers, and with vendors with a high level of competence, professionalism, integrity, and credibility
  • Provide miscellaneous technical, engineering and maintenance service support to customers at domestic and deployed sites

Basic Qualifications:

Education & Experience:

  • Bachelor degree in Business, Engineering or Law, or equivalent business experience
  • Minimum 10 years of related experience in Product Support, Business Development, R&O, In-Service Support, Program Management, or other related discipline
  • Previous experience with interpretation, drafting, and negotiation of contractual terms and conditions
  • Strong financial acumen
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • The following are considered assets:
  • Experience working with various Military and Commercial Customers
  • Canadian Standard Acquisition Clauses and Conditions (SAAC), United States Federal Acquisition Regulations (FARs), and Defence FAR Supplement (DFARs)
