    Dimensions


    This position is located at the Dome site near South Porcupine, ON. The incumbent is expected to apply their expertise to collaborate cross-functionally and across various levels at the site to execute against safe, reliable and challenging mine plans. This incumbent will further ensure regulatory and procedural compliance and measure performance and effectiveness of the day-to-day site operations. The role reports to the Open Pit Superintendent.

    Essential Duties


    Promoting Safety and Sustainability

    • Align with Fatality Risk Management protocols
    • Conduct periodic safety audits / risk assessments for the current projects & upcoming projects (company and contractor)
    • Lead by example and actively promote full participation by all Newmont safety programs.
    • Promote and adhere to Company environmental and sustainability policies
    • Review existing procedures with a mindset of continuous improvement
    • Participate as quality reviewer, lead safety investigations, and close out recommendations for the surface operation's team
    • Help establish consistent and clear expectations with newly onboarded contractors
    • Maintain good relations and promote positive attitudes for all employees and contractors

    Mine Operations Management

    • Act as a liaison between the technical services and operational teams with a focus on maximizing mine and project production through the collection and analysis of key performance indicators
    • Assist the Mine Coordinator chair the daily Short Interval Control meetings (6am and 4pm)
    • Assist in planning of field activities as required
    • Ensure all work is completed according to plans, designs and layouts.
    • Participate in weekly & monthly planning meetings, representing the operations team
    • Provide spare shifting support on an as needed basis
    • Actively participate in the weekly pre-commit and weekly meetings.

    Continuous Improvement & Cost Control

    • Ensure operations group is consistently reporting and tracking key performance indicators
    • Responsible for the coordination and successful implementation of full potential workbooks and rapid replications projects.
    • Assist with cost budgeting, forecasting & tracking processes

    Training & Experience

    • Post-secondary education with a minimum 5 years of technical and field experience.
    • Ability to interpret engineering designs and plans and offer input to design issues.
    • A strong working knowledge of open pit short term scheduling.
    • Have strong communication and people skills
    • Be focused, clear and decisive
    • Able to impact and influence in order to gain the alignment of the technical and operating teams

    Working Conditions


    This position is located at Dome Mine, part of Newmont's Porcupine Mine Site near Porcupine, ON.

    In this role, you will work a 5x2 or 4x3 schedule.
