Manager, Regulatory Affairs.

  • Reporting to the Director, Regulatory Affairs, this position is responsible for coordination, integration, project management, strategic and financial analysis and positioning, communications, planning, research, systems and procedures, related to OPG's interface with the Ontario Energy Board.
  • This is an exciting opportunity to work in an environment where you will contribute to OPG's public outreach, engagement and education efforts as part of the company's commitment to growing its social license.
    KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES
  • Coordination, integration, project management, strategic and financial analysis and positioning, communications, planning, research, modelling and procedures, related to OPG's interface with the Ontario Energy Board.
  • Recommending strategies in all forums (discussions, meetings, written reports, hearings, etc.) to preserve OPG's current value and provide opportunities for additional value creation.
  • Within the context provided by the Director and the Vice President, and through developing and implementing relationships with regulators, government and stakeholder representatives, and through individual contributions and the contributions of staff in the division provide the following:
  • Monitor the business environment for market and regulatory issues requiring OPG response.
  • Develop models and conduct detailed financial model analysis to assess the financial impact on OPG of alternative ratesetting approaches.
  • Provide analysis and research to support the development of regulatory strategy.
  • Monitor the Canadian regulatory environment of the energy industry.
  • Use expert level knowledge on specific regulatory policy, finance and/or accounting issues to identify and undertake required examinations and studies, presenting options and recommendations to senior management.
  • Recommend positioning of issues and communication strategies for OPG in all issues and forums related to economic regulation. Develop communications plans for internal and external use in supporting OPG's positions and keeping all OPG employees informed. Prepare and deliver communications to internal and external audiences.
  • Assist others in OPG in understanding market development, regulatory constructs/obligations and unique financial circumstances so that they can plan for and execute actions to create value.
  • Develop and maintain strong working relationships with other representatives in industry restructuring initiatives and generic regulatory proceedings.
  • Support OPG executives in their involvement in regulatory forums.

EDUCATION

  • University Degree or College Diploma in Finance, Accounting, Engineering, Economics or related field;

QUALIFICATIONS

  • 5+ years of experience in regulatory affairs
  • Thorough understanding of accounting or finance reporting practices within a regulated organization or strong utilities experience with a thorough understanding of rate filings and rate regulations
  • Excellent math, financial, analytical, problemsolving, and decisionmaking skills.
  • Exceptional written and oral communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.
  • Ability to work under pressure and manage multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Strong planning and leadership skills.
  • Ability to work effectively and efficiently in a flexible hybrid office environment.
