Salary: $40-$50 per hour

Role Description

• Work within a team of Engineers/Design Specialists in the development of new products. This includes all steps within a formal product development process
• Apply scientific/engineering principals in the design of machines
• Execution of conceptual and detail design - 3D modeling of parts and assemblies
• Optimize design based on manufacturing processes (DFM), assembly and test
• Sizing and selection of components (motors, sensors, bearings, gearbox, pneumatic and hydraulic components, etc) as well as material selection and application of design standards
• Perform calculations and analysis (structural FEA, thermal, dynamics, tolerance stack-up, etc..)
• Detailed drawings and application of GD&T
• Formal report writing and presentations to team members and management
• Work with team members in the validation of new designs (design and build of test stands, writing of test plans, analysis of test results, etc..)
• Contribute in design review meetings and brainstorming sessions
• Design risk mitigation including participation or facilitation of FMEA
• Contribute in a fast paced design environment
• Work closely with multidisciplinary experts – Analysis, Electrical, Software, Fluid Power, Metallurgy, Manufacturing, Validation/Test

Education

• Bachelor's degree in engineering

• Excellent communication (verbal and written) and strong presentation skills
• Excellent understanding of engineering principles
• Attention to detail
• Strong problem solving skills
• Strong sense of ownership
• Ability to multitask (scheduling and prioritizing tasks)
• Creative ability to generate concept designs and select optimal concepts (eg./ selection matrix, TRIZ, etc..)
• Demonstrated learning abilities and strong research capabilities
• Proficiency in MS Office (PowerPoint, Excel, Word, Visio/Project – nice to have)
• Demonstrated ability to work both autonomously, and as part of a highly cohesive team
• Commitment to working with integrity and honesty
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Knowledge of Unigraphics and/or other 3D CAD software is an asset
• A strong desire to learn about mechanical design and possess a strong mechanical aptitude
• Well-rounded – hands-on mechanical ability and passion for interests and hobbies outside of work
