Description

• Operate manual machining (
  milling and lathe) and other miscellaneous machine shop equipment,
• Monitor and verify the accuracy of each job's initial setup, and final outcome
• Study and interpret drawings, manuals, specifications or sample parts to determine dimensions and tolerances of finished work pieces, sequence of operations and setup requirements to maximize efficiency and reduce costs
• Interpret engineering drawings and machine accordingly to include proper methodology, tooling, cutting speeds and feeds in order to generate quality parts in accordance with production and quality standards
• Communicate with supervisors and other shop personnel for assignments and to resolve machining, production or quality issues
• Within the scope of the job requirements, required to adhere to and comply with the company quality program and procedures, company policies and health, safety and environmental policies/regulations
• All other duties as assigned by supervisor, which may include creating jigs, fixtures or tools for other areas of the shop

• Minimum 5 years experience operating manual machines in a fastpaced manufacturing environment
• Advanced knowledge of reading blueprints and specifications
• Working knowledge of various tool holders, cutting tools, boring bars, and inserts used on various machines
• Must be able to follow written and oral instructions
• Must be able to communicate in English (both written and verbal) as it relates to the job
• Handson and adaptable to a changing work environment, competing demands and have the ability to deal with frequent change, delays or unexpected events
• Basic math skills to include but not be limited to adding, subtracting, multiplication, division, geometry and algebra for the purpose of calculating material fabrication
• Forklift license an asset
