Aunt Leah's Place is a registered charity helping kids in foster care and teen moms achieve a better future for over twenty-five years.

Aunt Leah's Place helps prevent children in foster care from becoming homeless and mothers in need from losing custody of their children.

To support them on their journey to adulthood, we provide housing, education & training, and life skills.


Job Summary:


As HR Recruiter at Aunt Leah's Place you are a key member of the Human Resources team in growing and strengthening our talent.

You will provide the full range of recruitment services to various teams across our organization.

You will assist the HR team to implement and oversee the smooth operation of HR programs, systems, policies and procedures, with a focus on full cycle recruitment, that will benefit and expand the potential of all employees, practicum students, contractors and volunteers within Aunt Leah's Place.


In this key role, you will:

  • Collaborate with managers to lead full-cycle recruitment for a wide variety of positions in the non-profit organization.
  • There is no typical day at Aunt Leah's Place; however, your main responsibilities will
    include developing job descriptions, job postings, selection criteria, conducting and coordinating interviews, ensuring all preemployment checks are completed, and preparing employment letters

  • You will provide support to Aunt Leah's compensation framework and update job descriptions as needed. Your compassion, service orientation and proven communication skills will assist in ensuring staffing needs are addressed effectively in a timely manner.


This role requires a highly efficient self-starter, with great attention to detail, who respects cultural diversity, works well in a team environment, and can manage a busy and interesting workload while providing excellent service delivery.

Salary:

Starting at $26.00/ hr


Qualifications:


  • A degree or diploma in Human Resources
  • Minimum 12 years of demonstrated fullcycle recruitment experience
  • Postsecondary education in Business, Human Resources, or an equivalent combination of education and experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:


  • Excellent Oral & Written communication
  • Empathy and compassion towards people with multiplebarriers
  • Passionate about Aunt Leah's mission and understands the current and historical context of the child welfare system in relation to colonization
  • Ability to effectively prioritize and organize workload in a constantly changing environment to meet deadlines
  • Works well under pressure with multiple and concurrent deadlines
  • Experience in a fast paced, high volume, and highpressure environment
  • Conflict Resolution skills
  • Team player; must be able to take direction and work on own initiative
  • Knowledge of BC Employment Standards Act, Human Rights and other applicable legislation is required (WorkSafeBC & CRA Regulations)
  • Ability/aptitude to use HR Information Systems & Payroll Software an asset
  • Ability to implement and manage new systems and change
  • Ability to receive, provide and respond appropriately to feedback
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong, positive, and effective relationships
  • Professional and creative writing skills for job descriptions, ad development, and recruitment presentations
  • Nonprofit experience considered an asset

Human Resources:


General responsibilities will include:

  • Collaborating with the HR Team to develop recruitment strategies that will engage and attract high quality talent for unique and competitive searches.
  • Developing and maintaining talent pools by nurturing professional relationships with top talent and external sources of talent.
  • Leading the recruitment of multiple and diverse postings, depending on business needs and demands.
  • Full cycle recruitment including onboarding
  • Writing/compiling HR Recruitment documentation and materials
  • Updating HR records and posting files
  • Providing a high level of support focusing mainly on Recruitment & Selection
  • Educating staff and management regarding Recruitment programs and policies, answering their inquiries and acting as an information resource for Management
  • Building strong working relationships at all levels within Aunt Leah's and with external business partners.
  • Responsible for having a clear understanding of Aunt Leah's Human Resources Policies and Procedures. (Employee Handbook & Society Policy & Procedures)
