Under the supervision of the Aquatic Coordinator, the aqua fitness instructor plans, organizes and delivers aqua fitness classes. He/she prepares class schedules, design programs and assist with advertising and public relations. Record, monitor and report program attendance. Prepare, distribute and submit evaluation forms, as required. Provide lifestyle awareness information. Liaise with outside organizations to ensure latest updates/trends are introduced to the program. Maintain current level of certification and abilities required to conduct aqua fitness classes. Assist in the design of aqua fitness programs and implement changes as required.
QUALIFICATIONS NEEDED Education, Certifications and Licenses**An acceptable combination of education, training and/or experience
Current National Lifeguard Service (NLS) certification
Current CPR and Standard First Aid certification
Current recognized Swim Instructor certification
HIGH FIVE Principles of Healthy Child Development or HIGH FIVE Sport (successful completion by end of probation)
HIGH FIVE Healthy Minds for Healthy Children (successful completion by end of probation)
Experience
In dealing with the public, including, but limited to, children
In performing lifeguard duties
In the implementation of training and practice sessions
In the development and implementation of individual training plans
In cash handling
Competencies, Skills and Abilities
Observational skills
Communication skills
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Ability to react and respond in emergency situations
Client focus, organizational knowledge, communication, innovation, teamwork and leadership
LANGUAGE REQUIREMENTS
English Essential, Bilingual an asset
