Project

The Woodfibre LNG Project is located approximately 7 km west-southwest of Squamish, British Columbia.

It involves constructing and operating a liquefied natural gas (LNG) export facility on the previous Woodfibre pulp mill site, which would have a storage capacity of 250,000 m3 and produce approximately 2.1 million tonnes per year of LNG.


Woodfibre Management Ltd is a privately held Canadian company based in Vancouver and a subsidiary of Pacific Energy Corporation Limited.

Position

Key Responsibilities


The successful applicant will:

  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers to develop a comprehensive plan for the mechanical construction phase. This includes scheduling, resource allocation, and cost estimation.
  • Oversee the installation of mechanical equipment and systems, such as compressors, turbines, pumps, heat exchangers, and pipelines. Conduct regular inspections to ensure compliance with design specifications and industry standards.
  • Prioritize and enforce safety protocols and practices to protect workers and the environment. Conduct safety meetings, inspections, and audits to ensure compliance with safety regulations.
  • Implement quality control measures to ensure all mechanical work meets the required standards and specifications. Address any nonconformances and work with the quality team to resolve issues.
  • Supervise and lead a team of mechanical technicians and workers. Provide guidance, training, and support to enhance their skills and efficiency.
  • Identify and troubleshoot mechanical issues that may arise during the construction process. Develop effective solutions to prevent delays and setbacks.
  • Collaborate with other supervisors, such as electrical and civil supervisors, to ensure smooth integration and functioning of all systems.
  • Maintain accurate records of construction progress, equipment inspections, and safety incidents. Prepare reports for management and stakeholders.
  • Participate in the commissioning and startup of mechanical systems. Ensure proper testing, calibration, and functioning of all equipment.
  • Monitor expenses related to mechanical construction activities, ensuring they stay within budget constraints.
  • Ensure compliance with environmental regulations during construction, especially when dealing with hazardous materials and emissions.
  • Identify opportunities for process improvement and efficiency gains in mechanical construction processes.
Required Experience

  • An undergraduate or graduate degree in mechanical engineering or constructionrelated technology or extensive and related fieldwork experience leading to a thorough understanding of the knowledge, skills and abilities described above.
  • 5 to 10 years of relevant experience with 23 years supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated experience with industrial projects: oil & gas, midstream, and power.
  • Familiarity with LNG facility construction processes and safety protocols.
  • Proficiency in reading and interpreting engineering drawings and project plans.
  • Experience in construction, precommissioning, commissioning, and handover of largescale tanks.
  • Experience dealing with OEMs, consultants, contractors and other relevant third parties, particularly contractor oversight.
  • Contractual and procurement knowledge.
Additional Requirements

  • Experience working with large multidisciplinary teams and contractors in a multicultural environment is an asset.
  • Communication/interpersonal skills interacting with frontline workers through to management and all hierarchical levels.

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to be Innovative and visionoriented with demonstrated ability to undertake strategic planning and implementation.

  • Expertise with various computer programs: Office 365, MS Teams, etc.
  • Experience with and a strong aptitude for various estimating software systems.
  • Motivated and willing to take ownership of tasks.
  • Energetic in pursuit of continuous improvement processes.
  • Shares knowledge readily and encourages personal development.
  • A valid driver's licence and passport.
  • Must be legally entitled to work in Canada.
  • The position is based in Squamish, BC (Project Site).
