The Role:

We are looking for a Building Operator to join our team at Yonge & Eglinton. As the Building Operator, you will be responsible for handling tasks that meet the operational objectives of the property.

Primary responsibilities will include:

Receive incoming requests for service via Angus from tenants and responds by providing information, problem solving, or escalation of the matter to the Operator and Operations Supervisor
Perform inspection of the HVAC system; i.e. ensure that all compartmental units, cooling towers, boilers etc. are running and working properly.
Perform scheduled preventative maintenance using Angus PM system
Perform routine maintenance, preventative maintenance and minor electrical/mechanical and structural repairs as directed; i.e. changing of light bulbs, tubes, filters, lubricating equipment etc.;
Perform minor plumbing tasks; including but not limited to tap washer replacement, toilet and trap cleaning and unplugging, etc.;
Perform cleaning & painting tasks in the electrical/mechanical and other areas as directed;
Perform minor repairs, assembly and installations as directed;
Respond to tenant complaints and take appropriate action; i.e. make minor repairs, report problem to Manager, Building Operation
Ensure that all Corporate OH&S Policies, Procedures and Programs are implemented and strictly followed, including Environmental, Sustainability, and Property Management Policies and Procedures.
Maintain operator logs, checklists, and inspections.
Respond to any major spills and other cleaning crises during the day or afterhours.
Conduct weekly, monthly diesel generator testing, fire and life safety device inspections.
Ensure cleanliness and housekeeping conditions are fully observed to only the highest standards.
Other duties as assigned by your manager.

Required Skills and Qualifications:

Enrolment in the Building Environmental System (BES) Operator Class I & II or 2 years of relevant experience;
Experience in mechanical maintenance and repair and chemical treatment is an asset
Must have a valid driver's license
Strong problemsolving skills.
Good communication and interpersonal skills.
Excellent customer service skills.
Be detail oriented and have good scheduling skills.
