Description
DAILY/ WEEKLY
- Represent Smithwood with pride, patience, empathy, respect, positive intention and honour.
- Own the project throughout the full cycle to ensure success and the highest level of quality.
- Comprehend drawings to prepare layouts including selecting materials, planning sequences and
- Executes timely completion of assigned work order tasks.
- Proficient with relevant municipal and provincial building code regulations as it relates to
- General carpentry: formwork, framing, finishing, window/ door installs, selective siding.
- Plan the sequence of operation for the task.
- Make repairs to the internal and external structure.
- Cement work including: mix and pour material and pouring cement for stairs.
- Working 'hands on' as required to meet deadlines.
- Working effectively with Project Management team to facilitate job specifications.
- Utilize our Construction Project Management software Buildertrend.
- Complete daily timesheets and maintain work records.
- Mentor and orientate apprentices and staff as required.
- Practical knowledge of and ability to perform standard practices, methods, materials, tools and equipment used in carpentry and building maintenance with mínimal supervision.
- To be onsite, organized and ready to work at the predetermined clock in which unless otherwise agreed upon is 7:30am Monday to Friday.
- Meet with PM's, Ops Manager and Owner at regular intervals for feedback, discussions, and reviews.
- Direct reports are Carpenter Apprentices.
- Reports to Project Manager or Site Lead.
BUILDING TEAM
- Maintain and deepen relationships with trade partners, architects and designers.
- Coordinate projects with trade partners to ensure safe work procedures and public safety.
- Complete walk through with Project Manager, Site Lead and trades to ensure scope of work is understood.
CLIENT
- Establish and maintain a positive relationship with client.
- Keep an open line of communication with client as required.
- Escalate client issues to Project Manager or Site Lead as appropriate.
SAFETY
- Serve as a role model by always adhering to safety standards & practices.
- Adhere to safety policy/standards to maintain a safe job site and ensure that the requirements of the Worksafe policies and procedures as well as the Occupational Health and Safety Act are followed.
- Ensure appropriate site safety training is up to date.
STANDARDS
- Practical knowledge of safe operation of basic hand and power tools.
- Have personal tools.
- Extensive knowledge of the BC building code, principles, procedures, and best practices in the industry.
- Ability to read and interpret plans blueprints and sketches.
- Ability to understand and carry out oral and written instructions and work from plans, drawings, diagrams and sketches.
- Ability to supervise the work of one or more laborers as required.
- Be able to get to a variety of work locations by your own means (personal vehicle recommended).
- Adhere to the Smithwood employee handbook and policies at all times.
- Act as an ambassador of Smithwood at all times.
- Be respectful to every team member, client, trade partner, inspector or other person(s).

Salary:
$22.00-$42.00 per hour

Experience:
- carpentry: 2 years (preferred)
