The Department of Paediatrics encourages and develops innovative research in a collaborative setting focusing on child health.

Our undergraduate and postgraduate education programs enrich the student experience to provide the knowledge and skills needed to ensure exemplary care across multidisciplinary paediatric subspecialties.

Responsibilities:


The Financial Officer will be responsible for a wide range of administrative and financial functions and processes, as well as ensuring they are carried out in compliance with all relevant administrative policies and procedures.

The Financial Officer will be responsible for ensuring effective and efficient financial administration, and for providing financial, accounting, and budgetary support within the department.

The role will facilitate the implementation of financial processes and practices in compliance with the policies, procedures, and legislation applicable to the University, Hospitals, Research Institute, and alternative funding plans governance organizations which affect physician clinical and non-clinical remuneration, while compiling relevant data, and conducting timely and accurate financial analysis and reporting.

The role will also be a first point of contact and act as a resource in relation to all accounting, financial, procurement and budgeting processes for the department as funds cross institutional boundaries.

The Financial Officer will provide financial support to Chair/Physician Executive, Financial Management Committee Chair, Manager of Administration and Finance and participate in relevant committees, and ensure the availability of necessary documentation, resources and information.


Qualifications:


  • Education:
  • Undergraduate Degree in Business Management/Administration
  • Completion or working towards your Chartered Professional Accountant (CPA)

Experience:

  • 3 years' experience in a financial administration role with accountability for developing budgets

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Demonstrated understanding of financial analysis and planning, financial guidelines for research accounts and of complex reporting and accounting issues
  • Detailoriented with an ability to function and process information with high levels of accuracy
  • Familiarity with University and Hospital policies and procedures preferred
  • Ability to ensure expenditures and resources are within allotments, and to make appropriate modifications when required
  • Analytical skills to accurately interpret and integrate report data from various sources
  • Ability to collect and discern relevant data to create reports and recommendations
  • Adapts readily and effectively to changing priorities and demands
  • Computer skills with the ability to creatively use and integrate technology to improve quality and productivity
  • Advanced computer skills in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Ability to collect and analyze data in an objective manner to make appropriate decisions and recommendations
  • Organizational skills to manage multiple assignments that are accurate and thorough, sometimes of a complex nature or involving competing priorities
  • Ability to identify opportunities for improvement, while being open to trying new ideas and working methods
  • Proven ability and natural inclination to develop relationships by interacting with people in a professional, respectful and diplomatic manner
  • Organizational skills to manage multiple assignments that are accurate and thorough, sometimes of a complex nature or involving competing priorities
  • Influential interpersonal skills that build positive and strong relationships at all levels of the organization
