  • JSI is presently looking for a Plant Manager for its state of the art architectural woodwork facility located in Dorval._

PLANT MANAGER (Dorval) - OVERALL SCOPE OF POSITION:

Reporting to the Director of Manufacturing, the Architectural Woodwork Plant Manager oversees all production activities of the Architectural Millwork Plant.


Manages, coaches, plans and directs a team of over 40 plant employees, as well as technical engineering and materials management personnel.

This position requires an experienced Plant Manager, who has previously managed all aspects of a manufacturing facility fabricating high quality architectural millwork products:

PRINCIPAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Responsible for the smooth and efficient day to day operation of the plant
  • Oversees all departments from engineering, material requisition, reception, machining, assembly, painting and shipping
  • Responsible for hiring, scheduling, efficiency and discipline
  • Responsible for building facilities and plant equipment maintenance and security
  • Plan weekly and monthly schedules for the plant
  • Reports employees and jobs time
  • Responsible for quality control and established health & safety programs and procedures
  • Organize work and production methods to meet delivery schedules and product quality
  • Optimize all operations and plant systems in a high technology environment facing fast growth
  • Make sure projects are completed according to delivery dates
  • Provides technical support to all departments
  • Coordination with project managers
  • Provide a production schedule for each department
  • Maintain the progress of projects in the ERP system
  • Ensures that quality criteria is met
  • Ensures that manufacturing deadlines are respected
  • Coordination between the various departments of the company
  • Attend project handover meetings
  • Look for solutions to any problems that the factory may encounter
  • Ensure that priorities are respected in all departments
  • Responsible for setting up the employees vacation schedule
  • Distribute work to the material preparation & machinery departments
  • Attend HR related meetings implicating plant personnel
  • Ensures everyone has the necessary equipment to complete projects on time
  • Maintain a positive and collaborative working environment

QUALIFICATIONS (EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE)
-
Technical degree in Cabinetry/Woodwork combined with at least 7-10 years of progressive experience as a Supervisor or Plant Manager in the architectural woodwork production industry

  • Have a good knowledge of solid woods, veneers, wood panels and substrates
  • Thorough understanding of manufacturing and production processes in an architectural millwork plant
  • Knowledge of management software systems such as ERP
  • Superior organization and time management skills
  • Bilingualism (English and French)
  • Positive influential leadership ability to lead and manage a team to achieve production objectives for the plant
