The Demand Planner is responsible for developing, executing and communicating inventory buys and forecasts that support the merchandising, marketing and financial objectives and strategies of a division/category.
This will involve driving financial results through service and quality inventory management that maximize sales, while improving inventory and bottom-line profitability and supporting inventory turn goals.
You will develop and provide projections and commitments to our suppliers, analyzing historical data, productivity, current trends to identify risk and opportunities while creating action steps and recommendations to ensure delivery of plan and you will maintain the revised forecast in the system tools.
What will I do?
- Develop, execute and communicate inventory buys and forecasts that support the merchandising, marketing and financial objectives and strategies of a category. (35%)
- Drive financial results through service and quality inventory management that maximize sales, inventory and bottomline profitability resulting in return on investment and inventory turn goals. (20%)
- Actively evaluate business results, create action steps and recommendations to ensure delivery of plan and maintain revised forecasts in system tools. (10%)
- Initiate and maintain regular communication with large and strategic suppliers that will foster collaboration and alignment on forecast and order quantities and ensuring delivery accuracy and ontime delivery. (10%)
- Take proactive measures in high risk and aged inventory. (15%)
- Lead/participate in business process improvement initiatives to refine existing processes, tools and technology with the overall goals of driving efficiencies and increasing delivery performance. (10%)
- Support a collaborative, innovative, and resultsoriented environment with peers and crossfunctional partners. Drive ongoing collaboration with peers to ensure consistency of information, share best practices and develop systems knowledge. (ongoing)
What qualifications do I need?
- Equivalent to a Bachelor's degree in supply chain management, statistics or related field
- Minimum 3 years experience in supply chain or combined inventory management/supply chain and merchandising
- Knowledge of forecasting, planning, purchasing, as well as quantitative methods
- Experience in statisticalbased forecasting and JIT inventory management processes
- Proficiency with forecasting/demand planning systems (DS, Logility, JDA, etc)
- Strong analytical ability and attention to detail
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Able to work collaboratively with senior leadership and senior category managers
- Fundamental knowledge of JIT inventory management / replenishment functions
- Working knowledge of the office products industry and understanding of Merchandising and Supply Chain Operations practices is an asset.
