    Description

    Akkodis is partnered with a global leading insurance provider to recruit a Senior NoSQL DBA to join a Data Management Services (DMS) team based out of Toronto.

    As part of the DMS team, you will be responsible for for acting as the MongoDB / NoSQL SME as you help to ensure performance, security and availability of the databases, handle common database procedures such as upgrades, backup, recovery, and migrations, and more.

    Some of the key responsibilities include:

    • Provision MongoDB instances and ensure database performance, security, and availability, including encryption.
    • Manage medium to large infrastructure projects, such as MongoDB upgrades and migrations.
    • Participate in projects throughout their lifecycle, defining, managing, and tracking deliverables.
    • Maintain up-to-date documentation and procedures for MongoDB and other supported platforms.
    • Stay informed about current and upcoming technology innovations.
    • Utilize DevSecOps and database automation, collaborating with teams and supporting project development.

    Ideal candidate will have a combination of the below technical skills:

    • University degree in Computer Science or related information technology degree/diploma.
    • Proven experience working with and supporting MongoDB - performance tuning, ensuring availability, aiding in migration projects, supporting upgrades, MongoDB query & command functionality, etc.
    • Expertise working with other platforms and types of data repositories (Relational, NoSQL, Data warehouse, OLAP, OLTP, etc.)
    • Experience with production database systems operations and maintenance, preferably within a large enterprise based environment.
    • Understanding of schema design, index design, and query optimization.
    • Ability to contribute or lead technical discussions and self-manage workloads.

    Nice-to-haves:

    • Certification as MongoDB certified DBA or Developer.
    • Knowledge or experience of Mongo Atlas or MongoDB Ops Manager.
    • Experience with other NoSQL or SQL databases.
    • Experience with AWS Cloud services and/or DevOps tools would be an asset.
