The Training Specialist is responsible for providing administrative and technical support to the Manager Pilot Qualification (MPQ), Training Manager (TM) and Chief Pilot.

The Specialist will work in conjunction with the other members of the Training Department to ensure it runs at maximum efficiency.

They will recommend solutions to recurring issues and perform other duties as assigned.

  • Manage pilot Recency and the regaining of CARs and FOM recency (if lost) with the Fleet Efficiency Manager, Sim Planner and Pilot who is affected.
  • Identify potential issues and proactively provide solutions such as displacements, recency sims, seat swaps or coordinating FOM extensions with the Chief Pilot
  • Manage day to day training inquiries of student pilots and contract instructors
  • Manage onboarding of contract instructors for MPQ
  • Manage consultant service agreements and extension amendments for contract instructors in conjunction with the insurance, tax and legal department
  • Initial familiarization and technical support for company training devices and internal systems
  • Prepare and facilitate the distribution and logistics of SIM kits and laptops being sent to offshore training facilities
  • Analyze requirements for TSA approval and determine lead time required for initial training
  • Obtain visa's, documentation, and TSA security clearance (USA) for pilots training in foreign countries which will also include collaboration with the Flight School Training Provider.
  • Manage logistics of international health and safety entry and exit requirements for Instructors and Students partaking in offshore training in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety requirements. Including managing of monthly expenses related to OHS.
  • Provide Training Portal and SharePoint support and management by maintaining current training content and documentation published on all fleet training sites
  • Monitor tracking instructor qualifications for MPQ
  • Manage and oversee instructors annual Inter-Rater Reliability (IRR)
  • Monitor right seat qualification for I/E and IOETC
  • Provide ground school instructors with student contact information for new hire pilots
  • Order printing supplies as required for Training Courses
  • Maintain briefing rooms supplies dry markersSIM bagsdocuments, training forms and supplies for instructor training room
  • Coordinate and support MPQ, TM, Sim Planner, instructors and students as required for domestic and overseas training, including but not limited to car rentals and/or flights and/or hotels
  • Respond to pilot recency inquiries and complete the necessary research to appropriately respond and resolve the issues
  • Reduce operational costs through proactively mitigating recency issues
  • Provide planning and administrative support for Fleet Meetings as required such as, attendance and catering.
  • Determine if new hire pilots require registration for Zero Flight Time Training (ZZFT)
  • Complete PIT course presentation to new hire Pilots on final day of PIT course and take part in fleet specific equipment briefs
  • Develop and implement new strategies and processes to manage various tasks related to the Flight Training department
  • Work collaboratively with other departments to determine options and alternatives for improving existing processes.
  • Additional duties as assigned by MPQ/TM

Qualifications

Education:


  • College level diploma or higher
  • Flight Training background an asset.

Experience/Business Knowledge:


  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English. Bilingual; English and French is an asset.
  • Strong interpersonal, communication and organizational skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to keep and monitor records effectively.
  • Experience working with CARs an asset
  • Capable of working without close supervision.
  • Strong analytical and problemsolving skills.
  • Previous experience with Netline, FACTS, ReportLink, SharePoint, PQRM, an asset.
  • Previous airline operational experience, an asset.
  • Previous project management experience an asset.
  • Excellent computer skills; EXCEL, WORD, POWERPOINT
  • Strong ability to compose monthly reports with trend analysis.
  • High energy level, selfstarter and works well without direct supervision.
