Position Description:
Serco Canada Inc. is looking for an Operations Manager in Moose Jaw, Saskatchewan.

The successful individual will be responsible for the coordinated management of multiple related projects, and ongoing operations which are directed toward a common objective.

Work with the Project Manager for the execution of any projects and their impact on the program and to assist in monitoring cost, schedule, and technical performance of component projects and operations, while working to ensure the ultimate success of the program.

In addition, plan, organize, direct and control the activities of Operations personnel, to include airside operations, aircraft refueling (incl fuel farm), transportation section, heavy equipment mechanics, wildlife control and Roads and Grounds team.


Responsibilities include:

  • Plan, organize, direct and control the daytoday activities of the sections ensuring Statement of Work compliance. Liaising with other departments to ensure Section workflow processes are maximized is critical to the position.
  • Direct subordinate supervisors and employees in performance of section tasks.
  • Ensure sections and equipment are maintained to the correct standard, including completion of Preventive Maintenance and Corrective Maintenance on a cost effective and timely basis.
  • Ensure all deliverables and other reports are completed accurately and on time.
  • Recommend and implement changes to work methods, procedures, and equipment to improve cost, quality, time effectiveness and customer service.
  • Accountable for delivering optimal site results within appropriate performance metrics including quality, quantity, timeliness, productivity, customer satisfaction, and financial performance.
  • Accountable for selecting, developing, and managing a highperformance team of employees to achieve expected outcomes. This includes delegating appropriate deliverables to subordinate staff and direct reports and holding them accountable for delivery with formal and informal performance reviews and management tools. This includes assignment of overtime where necessary.
  • Accountable for key supplier relationships, collaboration with corporate groups and other external stakeholders.
  • Responsible to support to ensure airside projects stay on track meeting budget, timelines, labour, and materials projections.
  • Act as main point of contact (in collaboration with the Airside Services Superintendent) for all operational customer and Serco inquiries.
  • Responsible to work with other Serco staff/management to coordinate the work between departments to complete project's overall goal, includes the scheduling of staff and equipment.
  • Proactively and frequently communicate with customer and applicable Serco departments re project status/any variation in originally projected scope/timeline/budget as well as how customer mandated changes impact original deliverable.
  • Ensure all work orders associated with airside projects are accurate and closed in a timely manner to allow for efficient billing and payment.
  • Other related duties relevant to this position as may be required.

Qualifications:

  • Professional experience managing airport operations with a minimum of eight years' experience previous management experience in a Operational and Infrastructure environment may be considered.
  • Solid understanding of logistics operations principles, budget analysis and PM practices.
  • Extensive experience in an engineering discipline, including supervisory experience is required.
  • Knowledge of principles, theories, regulatory authorities, and design practices associated with building systems and services is required.
  • Strong performance management experience.
  • Possession of a valid Class 5 SK Driver's license.
  • Possession of or the ability to obtain and maintain a Ramp Defensive Driving Course (DND/RDDC) certification to operate vehicles on the airfield may be required.
  • MS Project experiences a benefit.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Will require to obtain a thorough understanding of the operational aspects of the Moose Jaw NFTC program technical, business, and financial within the probationary period of employment.
  • Ability to evaluate risk and related mitigation strategies.
  • Contractual understanding of commercial and labour agreements.
  • Initiative the ability to think and act ahead, takes a proactive approach in anticipating problems and driving opportunities.
  • Manages people effectively follows through with performance management including objective setting, regular feedback and review.
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to work on and track multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Must successfully complete and pass a Criminal Record Check (CPIC); Fingerprint Criminal Record Check; Reliability clearance.
