ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS:


  • Demonstrate leadership in promoting overall compliance with MasTec EH&S standards, applicable OH&S Acts, regulations and codes with all employees and subcontractors
  • Act as a role model for, and behave in ways that are aligned with MasTec's Core values: Teamwork, Excellence, Respect, Duty, Integrity and Protect, while encouraging other to do so as well
  • Establish and maintain good working relationships with customers and stakeholders to encourage repeat and referral business
  • Maintain an excellent line of communication with the corporate office and support functions to ensure business objectives are being met
  • Thorough understanding of commercial terms, pricing structures, contract general conditions and internal cost controls
  • Conduct risk management planning, identification, analysis, response planning and controlling risk on project(s)
  • Provide successful management of all contract documents, risks and changes throughout the project
  • Prepare and monitor performance against divisional operating budgets and profitability targets
  • Keep team and stakeholders informed of overall construction progress and performance along with monitoring and review of key performance indicators (KPI's)
  • Strategically plan staffing levels, materials, equipment and trades as required to meet/exceed crew productivity levels and schedule milestone dates
  • Recommend best practice improvements for production, performance, quality and safety
  • Assist field construction team with ability to recognize changes and track/communicate accordingly
  • Assist Superintendents with developing & maintaining the construction schedule to ensure budgets and timelines are met
  • Understand project documents and ensure this information is conveyed to the construction workforce
  • Assist Estimating team with completion of RFP packages
  • All other duties as assigned

EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTS:


  • 10+ years of experience in pipeline construction/maintenance projects
  • 3+ years in a leadership capacity at the construction/project management level
  • Thorough and deep knowledge of the civil and mechanical aspects of pipeline construction including practices, contracts, processes and techniques in grading, welding, coating and hydrostatic testing

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:


  • Take reasonable care of your own and others' health and safety and of those who may be affected by the daytoday delivery of this role by taking personal responsibility for working toward MasTec Canada's Core Values
  • Considerable knowledge of all construction tools, machinery methods and procedures
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office including Excel and SharePoint, construction/estimating software such as InEight/Hard Dollar Estimate
  • Write reports, business correspondence and document project activities
  • Demonstrate leadership, lead by example, motivate workers and communicate with workers, subordinates, project managers and clients
  • Ability to coach and mentor staff and support employee development
  • Effectively present information and respond to questions from stakeholder groups such as senior management, public groups, and/or employees
  • Ability to work well under pressure and within timelines
  • Define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions
