The Behavior Consultant role is to maintain diversity affirming behavior support for Program Members. The role is designed to support and lead the team in how to implement diversity affirming behavior support.

The overarching responsibility is to collaborate with colleagues, program members and contractors, to support a client-centered, meaningful, and diverse program 'culture.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Leadership and Supervision
  • Refer program, family and client related inquiries to Team Supervisors & Program Manager in a timely manner
  • Facilitate weekly clinical meeting with Team Supervisors and Program Manager to review behavioral concerns from each pod
  • Provide feedback and recommendations at clinical such that the Team Supervisors are prepared to disseminate that information
  • Attend the weekly 'roundtable' to oversee TS leadership and training and provide mentoring and feedback on same
  • Behavioral Supports
  • Comply with Behavior Analysts Certification Board (BACB) Ethical Code
  • Develop data collection systems
  • Create individual functional assessments when needed
  • Develop functionbased behavior interventions, and produce written behavior plan
  • Analyze behavior data
  • Adjust behavior and/or safety plans as indicated with a view toward fading interventions
  • Keep client plans current and accessible to staff for their review, with support of the Team Coordinators and Site Supervisor
  • Attend and conduct parent meetings as needed
  • Trainings and Onboarding
  • Contribute to diversity affirming behavior support training for onboarding new hires
  • Consult on education and maintenance of skills for staff as requested
  • Establish systems and protocols to provide training and mentoring to staff
  • Provide modelling of behavior plan implementation strategies to ensure Team Supervisors and Site Supervisor are adequately trained to disseminate skills and information among the team
  • Standards Compliance
  • Bring plans into compliance with the Community Living of British Columbia (CLBC) and accreditation policies
  • Support the organization in attaining and maintaining Request for Qualification with CLBC
  • Create Safety Plan as needed
  • Participate in monitoring of Behavior & Safety Plan
  • Review critical incident reports and ensure that they are up to standards
  • Collaborate with Health and Safety Coordinator and Quality Assurance Coordinator to maintain adherence with standards and protocols
  • Intake and Enrolment
  • Consult with Program Manager regarding new client program suitability
  • Participate in assessment of new clients with behavioral needs

EDUCATION, SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE:

  • Board Certified Behavior Analyst (BCBA) in good standing with the Behavior Analyst Certification Board
  • Minimum two (2) years working with Adults with ASD and developmental disabilities, including experience in conducting skill and behavioral assessments
  • Well organized, with excellent communication skills
  • Demonstrated ability to train and mentor staff
  • Excellent oral, written and computer skills
  • Ability to manage confidential information about the program members, their progress and families
  • Demonstrated analytical, problem solving and decisionmaking abilities
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to work independently and as part of a team
