HR GENRALIST JOB POSTING

THE OPPORTUNITY:


The Human Resources Generalist will be responsible for providing support with HR related programs, including talent initiatives, administration and program management.

This position is accountable to ensure expectations are met consistently and in accordance with the HR guidelines and procedures at the company.

Also, to contribute to a co-operative work environment where fairness, equity and non-discriminatory practices are the standard.


WHAT YOU WILL DO:

  • Works collaboratively with the HR and Payroll team on various HR and Payroll related functions.
  • Coordinates and delivers the new hire orientation and onboarding process for employees.
  • Maintains the company organizational chart and updates as needed.
  • Generates employee letters, tuition reimbursements, travel letters and other employee support documents as required.
  • Supports the recruitment process for salaried, hourly, and coop students including job posting, screening, interviews, and reference checks.
  • Manages the coop programs, including liaising with universities/colleges, tracking & program evaluation.
  • Support and participate in the design, development and continuous improvement of new and existing HR programs, such as Employee Onboarding, Educational Assistance Program, Performance Management and Internal Job Postings.
  • Supports corporate events such as Take Our Kids to Work Day.
  • Must adhere to the OHSA and its' regulations
  • Must ensure the company always complies with OHSA
  • Implement a sound safety program, as per WSIB and OHSA regulations
  • Ensure all legislated and certification training is scheduled and completed on a timely basis
  • Create, launch and manage H&S training programs as required
  • Create, implement and maintain Health and Safety Procedures and related Forms
  • Spearhead JH&SC meetings
  • Must keep current with the laws and recommend new safety related initiatives when appropriate
  • Lead in accident investigations and coach management on maintaining accurate documentation
  • Manage all WSIB Claims and Return to Work Programs
  • Work collaboratively with Quality department to ensure Health and Safety and Food Safety Procedures are in alignment

SKILLS:

  • Selfstarter, highly organized, ability to prioritize, strong attention to detail and goal oriented.
  • Ability to handle situations professionally with sensitivity, confidentiality, diplomacy and tact.
  • Excellent communication and people management skills; must be a team player
  • Solid knowledge of the relevant policies, labour law, employment standards and other regulatory requirements.
  • Experience in Payroll
  • Practices continuous learning by keeping abreast of human resources knowledge
  • Prior experience working in a warehouse or distribution environment or providing HR advice in this work environment an asset

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Post-Secondary degree or diploma in Business, specializing in Human resources is preferred or equivalent experience.
  • Proven work experience as a trusted HR advisor and HR Generalist; 13 years' experience.
  • Working towards CHRP designation is an asset.
