Your Role:

CPL, a Tetra Tech Company, is currently seeking
Wind Technicians to join its exciting renewable energy team. The wind technician will maintain turbines, including but not limited to preventive maintenance and repairs as needed.

Wind technicians must have a strong understanding of electrical and mechanical systems, as well as the ability to work at heights and in adverse weather conditions.

They may work as part of a team or independently and travel frequently to different wind farm sites as needed (estimated travel time expected to be 90% of the year).

To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.


Responsibilities:


  • Conducting regular maintenance on wind turbines, including lubricating bearings and testing electrical components.
  • Diagnosing and repairing problems with wind turbines, such as issues with the generator, gearbox, or electrical system.
  • Performing safety checks and ensuring that safety procedures are followed when working on wind turbines.
  • Monitoring turbine performance and making adjustments as necessary to optimize energy output.
  • Installing and commissioning new wind turbines and associated equipment.
  • Keeping detailed records of maintenance and repair work.
  • The working environment entails working inside the wind turbine enclosure at an elevated height of at least 300 feet.
  • Ability to think clearly and maintain composure during stressful and or hazardous situations is a critical ability to working in confined spaces.
  • Extensive training and testing will be provided covering safety and technical job requirements.
  • Physical requirements of the job include but not limited to: Ladder climbing minimum 267 steps, lift/move equipment frequently weighting up to 60 pounds and occasionally 61 to 100lbs, up stair climbing, standing for long periods, walking, lifting, bending, twisting, work above shoulders, pushing, pulling, exposure to vibration, chemicals, confined spaces, and extreme weather conditions.
  • Able to expand technical ability
  • Capable of efficiently taking on additional roles and responsibilities at an operating wind farm
  • Performs mainly predefined, technical tasks (for example, basic commissioning of products and systems, integration of components to a system, basic engineering, maintenance jobs) and work packages onsite and remotely.

Qualifications:


  • Wind experience of at least 5 years and experience working on Siemens Gamesa turbines preferred.
  • Capable of working on rotation or away from home regularly is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in mechanical and electrical systems including such as PLC programming and converters.
  • A valid drivers license is required.
  • College Diploma or equivalent competency in a field related to the work of a wind farm technician i

e:
electrical / mechanical systems.

  • Excellent customer service skills and communication skills are required.
  • Demonstrated ability to work safely and effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong ability to organize and plan daily/weekly work with a high level of quality orientation, ability to analyze and resolve problems independently with a high level of results orientation.
  • The following certifications are considered an asset:
  • GWO Valid Trainings
  • NFPA 70E
  • OSHA 10


  • CPR/AED

  • First Aid
  • Good computer skills including smart phones and handheld electronics. Competence in the use of Microsoft platforms like Outlook and Excel.

Additional Information


A requirement of working for Tetra Tech is that you are at least 18 years of age and legally entitled to work in Canada.

(A copy of a valid work permit may be required.)
