Position Description
Reporting to the Operations Manager, Spectacokids is seeking a Communicative Disorders Assistant, to provide speech therapy in home and in-centre, with children and youth up to the age of 18.
Our clients have a diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder and other Developmental Disorders and exhibit behavioural, communication and socialization challenges.
The individual will work as part of an interdisciplinary team with oversight and training from a Speech-Language Pathologist.Main Responsibilities
- Implement therapy goals using specialized training, tools, and techniques
- Uses an online system to schedule follow up appointments, complete accurate session notes, data entry and tracking forms.
- Work collaboratively on an multidisciplinary team Assist in the development of individualized treatment plans under the supervision of a licensed Speech-Language Pathologist (CASLPO).
- Provide direct therapeutic interventions to clients with communication disorders, including articulation, language, fluency, and voice disorders.
- Keep uptodate with best practices and evidencebased interventions in the field of communicative disorders.
Qualifications
- Communicative Disorders Assistant postgraduate diploma or other relevant courses.
- Member of the CDAAC
- Six months related experience and have a thorough understanding of physiological and functional speech/language and hearing disorders, programming skills and intervention techniques to evoke and sustain communication behaviours
- Ability to travel to various locations in a timely and efficient manner
- Hours of operation include ability to work evenings and Saturdays
- First aid and CPR trained are considered an asset
- Travel may be required
