Joseph's Health Care London Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism brings together comprehensive diabetes education and leading-edge care and research in specially-designed space at St.

Joseph's Hospital.

While our researchers focus on innovation and discovery, our interdisciplinary team of care providers and educators work to support our patients' goals and health care needs, providing a continuum of services to ensure optimal health and quality of life.

Serving southwestern Ontario, the Centre for Diabetes, Endocrinology and Metabolism is a teaching program affiliated with Western University, the Lawson Health Research Institute and the Robarts Research Institute.


The Registered Dietitian (Certified Diabetes Educator) works collaboratively with the interprofessional team to provide client-centred evidenced based and coordinated diabetes education, insulin adjustment and insulin pump management to patients with diabetes referred by endocrinologists and family physicians.

The dietitian will use skills in individual and group-based nutrition education to facilitate the provision of client-focused diabetes care.


Essential Qualifications

  • Knowledge of a Safety Culture in a Health Care Setting in compliance with the OHSA
  • Current registration with the College of Dietitians of Ontario
  • Eligible for membership with Dietitians of Canada
  • Current certification as a Diabetes Educator
  • Ability to successfully complete the insulin adjustment certification upon completion of 750 hours worked and/or no later than one year of employment
  • Understanding of the nutrition care process and model
  • Demonstrated expertise in developing and implementing nutritional care plans
  • Demonstrated knowledge of current evidencebased practice related to diabetes, including pathophysiology, nutritional strategies, and selfcare management
  • Knowledge of community resources and the ability to assist patients and families to navigate the health care system.
  • Knowledge of education theory (including adult learning principles) and demonstrated experience in the development of diabetic teaching materials and the teaching and education of patients (and family/caregivers)
  • Previous experience dealing with health promotion and illness prevention
  • Demonstrated effective communication, collaborative and interpersonal skills
  • Demonstrated expertise in critical thinking and clinical problemsolving skills
  • Selfdirected, strong organizational skills and ability to prioritize workload
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate with an interdisciplinary team, patients and/or residents

Preferred Qualifications

  • Proficiency in French would be an asset.
  • Demonstrated insulin pump education, experience and certification
  • Experience in public speaking and preparation of educational material
  • Demonstrated computer experience, particularly with Groupwise, computerized patient information systems, Microsoft Office Products (specifically PowerPoint)

  • St Joseph's Health Care London through its affiliation with Western University and Fanshawe College is a leading research and teaching hospital. Immunization Requirements

  • Provide documentation you have received two doses of the Covid19 vaccine and a written commitment to follow any future Public Health recommendations and St. Joseph's Health Care London policies and processes related to Covid management in the workplace.
  • Provide vaccination records or proof of immunity against measles, mumps, rubella and varicella (chicken pox)
  • Provide documentation of the Tuberculosis skin testing
