    Position Overview

    Under the direction of the staff Physiotherapists and Occupational Therapists assists with patient care. Performs reception and housekeeping duties in the department as assigned.

    Experience

  • Must have experience working in direct patient care environment.
  • One year of recent directly related experience as a Rehabilitation Assistant is required.
  • Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)

  • Minimum Grade XII with a certificate or diploma from a recognized Rehabilitation Assistant program.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in computer use with a strong knowledge of Microsoft Office and web-based software.
  • It is recommended that, at a minimum, staff possess the Family & Friends category of CPR training.

  • Ability to work under stressful situations and meet strict deadlines.
  • Physical Requirements

  • Must be in good physical and mental health and be able to sit, stand or walk for extended periods of time without resting.
  • Must demonstrate the use of safe and effective body mechanics while working with clients.
  • Must be able to safely transfer clients who may have limited or no weight bearing capabilities.
  • Must demonstrate adequate motor coordination or dexterity, strength and endurance to perform the complete spectrum of job functions.
  • May be exposed to dust, grease, oil, infectious diseases, blood and body fluids, toxic materials, noise, allergens, physical and emotional stress.
