Qualifications:_


  • Previous employment in a health care/hospitality setting an asset.
  • Demonstrated understanding of/empathy for the needs of seniors.
  • Must have a total understanding of bookkeeping practices and sufficient accounting knowledge to determine proper entries, prepare financial reports and statements, and conduct reviews as required.
  • Demonstrated experience in managing a budget.

Physical Demands:_


  • Sitting for extended periods at a desk for computer/typing work.
  • Standing for extended periods of time.
  • Walking short distances and up/down staircases.
  • Typing and/or use of a computer keyboard proficiently.
  • Pulling/pushing/lifting to open and/or relocate binders, carts, etc. up to 10lbs.
  • Reading/seeing documentation both in paper format and on a computer screen for extended periods of time.
  • Hearing differences in phone ring tones and/or in fire system horns or alerts for emergency response purposes.
  • Speaking/communicating in front of audiences and with individuals.

Responsibilities:_


  • Maintain accounting records for all invoices, deposits, rent and service fee collections, etc., as set out in the administrative policy and procedure.
  • Perform payroll duties necessary for the calculation of accurate wages and salaries of all staff.
  • Maintain confidentiality of all financial, personnel and resident data.
  • Assist with human resources including onboarding, training, personnel file maintenance, etc.
  • Be knowledgeable of and practice residence's fire and safety programs.

  • Accounting:_
  • Post and balance subsidiary ledger(s) such as accounts payable or receivable.
  • Examine and code invoices or vouchers for proper accounting distribution.
  • Assist in preparing budget, income and expenditure reports.
  • Prepare all resident billings. Handle payments and all queries concerning billings from residents and/or their families.
  • Maintain resident trust accounts in accordance with legislative requirements, if applicable.
  • Prepare bank deposits. Handle and balance petty cash for the residence.

  • Payroll:_
  • Calculate and prepare payroll (and/or prepare payroll data for machine processing) including deductions and taxes, against tight deadlines. Identify pay anomalies from familiarity with residence's practice and obtain resolution from appropriate authorities.
  • Maintain knowledge of various pay rates, conditions of collective agreement(s), overtime and sick pay arrangements, holiday pay, etc.
  • Process and forward payments withheld for taxes, union dues, employee benefits, etc. Administer benefits.
  • Answer routine questions and explain deductions or provide other information to employees or employees' supervisors.

Job Description:
Risk Management and General Safety
_


  • Partners with community team to ensure community is in compliance with Occupational Health and Safety requirements and promotion of Risk Management programs and/or policies; adherence to safety rules and regulations.
  • Practices safety procedures at all times including Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), fire safety procedures including extinguishers (as applicable), SDSs (Safety Data Sheets) and Lockout Tagout procedures.
  • Reports all accidents/incidents immediately.
  • Reports all unsafe and hazardous conditions/equipment immediately.
  • Complies with all infection control techniques, placement of biohazard containers and removal techniques, procedures and policies.
  • Participates in Fire Safety and Mock Disaster procedures.
