POSITION PURPOSE


Reporting to the Manager, Epidemiology & Research, is responsible for providing assistance to the Epidemiology, evaluation and CQI staff with the collection and retrieval of health related data, the analysis of information and data, program evaluation, development of data collection tools and the communication and presentation of information and data to internal and external clients.


MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Selects appropriate methods and procedures for collecting and analyzing health and healthrelated data based on needs of client or project, including the design of surveys.
  • Assists with program evaluation and data collection tools, in collaboration with program staff and evaluation analyst.
  • Computes statistical data by utilizing statistical software and health databases (i.e. SPSS, STATA), and prescribed formulas.
  • Maintains uptodate databases and designs/ creates new databases, as required, for epidemiological investigations, reports and projects, in consultation with Epidemiologists.
  • Provides support services to Branch management and staff related to survey design, and database construction.
  • Prepares reports and provides statistical information in userfriendly formats to clients after reviewing, verifying and utilizing source materials.
  • Ensures that services provided meet Regional customer service standards.
  • Manages information in accordance with legislation and corporate standards.
  • Represents programs, at intraBranch and crossDepartmental meetings.
  • Performs other duties as assigned, in accordance with Branch and Department objectives.
  • May occasionally be required to respond to emergency situations outside of normal business hours, as related to the Departmental Emergency Plan.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Successful completion of a University Degree in Health Sciences, Mathematics or Biostatistics or related field or approved equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Minimum one (1) year demonstrated experience in coordinating the collection and retrieval of health related data including statistical compilation, interpretation, analysis and communication of health related information to appropriate sources.
  • Experience with program evaluation methodology, logic model development, needs assessments and program planning.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of public and community health issues and epidemiological practices.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of database design, survey development software and relational databases.
  • Knowledge of public health data sources and survey tools.
  • Knowledge and demonstrated ability in corporate core competencies including customer focus, communication, collaboration and personal ownership.
  • Highly proficient in the use of the Internet, Intranet and external data warehouse environments.
