Learning Specialist - (K-12)

Education Centre - English as Additional Language (EAL)

As a rapidly growing school division in Alberta, RVS supports the educational needs of more than 27,000 students from Kindergarten to Grade 12 in 53 schools to ensure they learn, belong and succeed.

Rocky View Schools (RVS) is located on the traditional territories of the Blackfoot Confederacy including the Siksika, Kainai, Piikani Nations; the Tsuut'ina Nation; the Stoney-Nakoda, including the Chiniki, Bearspaw and Wesley Nations; and the Métis Nation of Alberta Region 3.

Please note:
This position is also open to those teachers holding a Continuing Contract in RVS.

Responsibilities for this position include:

Working as part of a team to help support leaders and teachers in designing and implementing inclusive literacy, numeracy and assessment practices with EAL learners

Supporting schools to align with RVS assessment philosophy and procedures as outlined in AP360

Supporting schools with collecting, analyzing and using data to inform practice

Supporting schools with implementing practices from the EAL Practice guide, including using benchmarks to inform instruction

Working with schools and teachers to plan and incorporate elements of instructional design

Planning and leading professional learning sessions for K-12 teachers as required, including working in schools through small group professional learning, working elbow to elbow with teachers, co-teaching, modelling, coaching and mentoring

The successful can didate must possess, or be eligible for an Alberta Teaching Certificate and provide Human Resources with an original of their Teacher Qualifications Service (TQS) document.
