About the role
Canadian Blood Services is looking for a
Regular, Full-time Manager, Construction Projects to join our dynamic
Strategic Facilities Management and Business Integration team.
The Strategic Facilities Management & Business Integration team is responsible for supporting Canadian Blood Services by managing our facilities' infrastructure aligning capacity and resources to optimize value in infrastructure investments, while providing a balanced approach to managing service quality, performance, and risk.
Integration is balanced with effectiveness and accountability in providing facility infrastructure management and property services, to support our workload, stakeholders, and programs.
In this role, you will ensure that the project is completed on time and within budget, that the project's objectives are met and that everyone else is doing their job properly.
You will lead the planning process, working with internal and external clients, specialists, consultants, and suppliers to identify requirements, develop budgets and organize the project from initial planning and set-up through delivery to successful delivery.
Formula for success
- Leveraging your excellent Planning skills, develop work and product breakdown structure defining work activities and 'products' to be delivered at each stage. Factor constraints on resource availability, skill levels, organizational capabilities, readiness, and costs into the plan
- Drawing on your knowledge of Project management, Analyze and report performance, resource usage and expenditure against plan and examine any areas that exceed agreed tolerances and take corrective action
- Focusing on Stakeholder Relationship Management, identify stakeholders and gather information to understand their needs and expectations. Communicate progress regularly to the project sponsor, any key stakeholders and project team members, ensuring that there are no surprises
- Practicing your superior Organization skills, Identify the mix of expertise, knowledge and capabilities required to achieve the project purpose, identify project team structure and define responsibilities and reporting lines for each role
- Drawing on your knowledge of Change control, respond promptly to critical events and requests for change, assessing potential impact on the project scope and objectives and challenging constructively where appropriate. Also, ensuring use of version control and controlled distribution of project related documents
Desired education and skills
- University degree in mechanical, electrical or civil engineering, architecture or relevant related field
- A minimum of 5 years of experience in the design, construction or operation and maintenance of building services
- A minimum of 5 years of project management experience in a highly regulated environment
- Knowledge of relevant codes and standards
- Skilled use of computer programs including Project Management, CAD and databases
- Excellent verbal and written communications skills

What you can expect
- This role will work in a hybrid environment with requirements to be onsite at Canadian Blood Services location 40% of the time/days of the week
- Travel requirements travel will be required to attend project sites, meetings and conferences etc.
