Department Overview

  • The Associate Vice President, Finance, TECE reports to the Vice President, Finance, TECE and is responsible for leading a dedicated team of Finance professionals responsible for Finance measurement, analysis and decision support.
  • Associate Vice Presidents (AVP) at TD Bank Financial Group are strategic, responsible and accountable members of the Bank's leadership team. Collectively, these roles contribute significantly to the overall reputation of TD as an excellent investment, a highly customer focused organization, a top employer and an exemplary corporate citizen. Job Details


This role provides senior financial advisory and operational thought leadership to the Group Head of TECE and other senior leaders.

In addition to the business partners the team supports, the team works closely with a range of Finance partners including Technology, ESDS, Segment Finance, Chief Accountant's department and Financial Operations.


Finance and Business Leadership Accountabilities:


The AVP role includes oversight of:

  • Consolidated TECE financial planning, reporting and forecasting of results on behalf of the leadership team on a regular basis
  • Financial planning, reporting and presentation of results to certain TECE functions on a regular basis (this includes reporting at all business levels from individual cost centre owners, to VP, SVP and EVP)
  • Business advisory and ad hoc support
  • Proactively identify financial opportunities, risks and solutions
  • Business case review, consulting and expense approval and accounting policy advice
  • Oversee the preparation of financial MOR presentations to the CEO, CFO and Group Head
  • Interlocking with Segment Finance teams for sponsored spend
  • Telling the financial story, linking the strategic priorities and accomplishments of the group while providing value add advice to gain financial efficiencies while optimizing group effectiveness
  • Provide direction on allocation methodology and insights on impacts to Finance and Business segments
  • ROI validation and measurement as well as overseeing productivity measurement and value attribution across the portfolio
  • Oversee financial reporting signoff
Job Requirements

SPECIFIC EDUCATIONAL REQUIREMENTS / ACCREDITATIONS

  • CA/CMA/CGA/MBA/CFA
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS / SKILLS / EXPERIENCE

  • A finance executive / top level professional with broad range of financial management and advisory experience with extensive understanding of the business and key financial drivers
  • Possess advance level of expertise and financial acumen to provide insight on strategy development and be a strategic partner to the business on a broad range of financial matters
  • Balanced approach, ability to stay resilient under pressure
  • People leadership is key element to this role both the ability to effectively work in teams across the bank with multiple stakeholders, influence and align others
  • Proven ability to manage a diverse group of professionals is critical to success in this role
  • Demonstrated time management and organizational skills to meet tight deadlines as well as flexibility to adapt to changing priorities
  • Confident presentation and facilitation skills and strong interpersonal and leadership skills to facilitate working with business and senior management at all levels.
  • Excellent analytical skills in assessing finance / market and business issues and exceptional communication skills (written and verbal)
