Sound is the Canadian not-for-profit music licensing company dedicated to obtaining fair compensation for artists and record companies for their performance rights.
On behalf of its members, representing thousands of artists and record companies,Re:
Sound licenses recorded music for public performance, broadcast and new media.
Reporting to the Controller, the Accounting Assistant works with a small Finance Department which supports the business in processing, reporting and business consulting.
duties and responsibilities:
- Process accounting transactions including journal entries
- Process accounts receivable for all daily incoming payments
- Record and reconcile customer payments in a timely manner
- Ensure timely collection, reconciliation and compliance of royalties payments and follow up on overdue tariff payments
- Investigate and resolve billing discrepancies or misapplied cash transactions
- Maintain and update customer records in the system on a timely basis
- Process accounts payable transactions including all monthly/quarterly royalty distributions
- Maintain and update vendors records in the system on a timely basis
- Prepare financial and sales reports and any ad hoc reports assigned
- Perform account reconciliation and assist with monthend closing
- Assist in the preparation of yearend audit working papers;
- Other duties as required
Requirements:
- Possess a university degree in accounting, commerce, business, finance or equivalent.
- Over 2 years of experience especially in Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable capacities
- Computer proficiency with MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams)
- Must have experience in an enterprise accounting system (Epicor an asset)
- Experience working in a customer relationship management system
- Effective attention to detail, strong organization, and prioritization skills
- Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
- Ability to work independently
- French speaking an asset
