    Description

    What you will do:

  • Execute comprehensive communication and marketing plans to promote brand, services, and mission.
  • Create engaging content for website, social media, email campaigns and marketing materials.
  • Manage social media accounts, including content creation, design, scheduling, monitoring, and engagement with followers.
  • Manage external website content ensuring accuracy, consistency and timely information.
  • Coordinate with internal teams to gather information and insights for content creation and marketing campaigns.
  • Conduct market research and analysis to identify trends, target audiences, and competitive landscape.
  • Multimedia production including photography, video and graphic design to create visual assets for campaigns.
  • Monitor and manage/delegate requests coming through communications ticket system.
  • Monitor and analyze performance metrics for communication and marketing initiatives and provide regular reports and recommendations for optimization.
  • Support event planning and execution, including promotional activities, media outreach, and on-site coordination.
  • Stay updated on industry trends, best practices, and emerging technologies in communications and marketing.
  • What you bring:

  • Bachelor's degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, or related field.
  • Proven experience (2-3 years) in communications and marketing roles, preferably in a similar industry or nonprofit sector.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills are essential for crafting compelling content, engaging with stakeholders, and representing the organization effectively in various settings.
  • Proficiency in digital marketing tools and platforms such as social media, email marketing, content management systems, and analytics tools is necessary for reaching and engaging audiences online.
  • Knowledge of branding principles, visual identity, and brand consistency to ensure all communication materials reflect the organization's brand effectively.
  • Skills in promoting events, fundraisers, and campaigns through various channels to attract participants, sponsors, and donors.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with internal teams, stakeholders, volunteers, and external partners to support communication needs and achieve organizational objectives.
  • Working knowledge of graphic design principles and multimedia production tools to create or coordinate visual assets for communications materials.
  • Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills to create clear, concise, and engaging content across various platforms while adhering to the organization's tone and messaging guidelines.
  • Flexibility and adaptability to navigate changing priorities, deadlines, and situations in a fast-paced non-profit environment.
  • Understanding of advocacy strategies, public awareness campaigns, and mobilizing support for key issues to advance the organization's mission and goals.
  • A satisfactory vulnerable sector criminal record clearance is required.
  • Demonstrated knowledge, understanding and commitment to the Truth and Reconciliation Commission of Canada: Calls to Action.
  • Willingness to work within anti-racist and anti-oppressive frameworks and actively engage in ongoing learning about these frameworks.
  • Work Environment and Hours:

  • Main Building ( 2nd Ave SE). Occasional travel within the city will be required.
  • 1 FTE (37.5 hours/week)
  • Standard hours 8:30am - 4:30pm Monday-Friday. Occasional evening and weekend hours for special projects and events will be required.
  • Continuous extended periods of sitting, standing, and walking (sometimes up/down stairwells)
  • Occasional driving as part of work duties
  • Occasional physical activity requiring the ability to bend/crouch, reach above shoulder height, kneel/crawl, and carry objects (up to and over 20Ibs.) may be required throughout shift.
